I ran down the stairs trying not to drop my laptop. The email came up on my screen when I was scrolling through bedroom design ideas on Pinterest. I chose which subjects I wanted to take in Sixth Form two months ago and I've been waiting for this email ever since. They go through every student's options before they can accept your request into the class. They can't say yes to everyone because if only one person chose Business Studies, they wouldn't have enough people for the class. I always said if I was the only person to take English Literature I would happily sit in a classroom on my own, but it doesn't work like that. Luckily, I got into all my chosen subjects. I showed my parents the email and we all cheered in excitement.

"I think this is a cause for celebration, don't you?" Dad said.

"Pizza and a movie night?" I said jumping up and down. They both started laughing and cheering with me. They know I'd prefer to stay in and order pizza to spend time with them than go to fancy restaurants and spend an unnecessary amount of money anyway.

Dad ordered the pizza and I put on My Best Friend's Wedding. Even my Dad loves this film. It reminds me of Jen and Jacob. They kissed once when we were six and they never spoke about it after that, however, I like to bring it up just to make it awkward for them because it's hilarious for me. I always thought they would realise they had feelings for each other and be together, but it hasn't happened. So, now I think Jen will realise she's in love with him when he is about to marry someone else and Jen being Jen, will try to break up the wedding because she's impulsive, then she'll regret it and let them continue because she's not selfish. That is basically the plot of the movie.

Julia Roberts was just about to tell Michael she loved him when the doorbell rang. My Mum got up to answer it and I lay down to keep her seat warm.

"Will. Will, can you come here please" my Mum shouted.

"One sec" he shouted back. "Don't bother pausing it, Moo. I know what happens" he winked at me. He walked out into the hall and closed the living room door behind him. I wondered what was going on, but I was too engrossed by Dermot Mulroney's beautiful face. I turned the volume down slightly to see if I could hear anything. I heard the door slam.

"I can't believe you're doing this again" Mum said. I turned the volume down again.

"It's not something I can just walk away from Ange" said Dad.

"You've walked away before, why can't you do it again?" there was silence. "Have you been involved in this the entire time?" she sounded scared. "Please, Will" she started to cry. "Tell me this isn't true."

"I'm sorry, I can explain everything I promise" said Dad.

"No. Not now" she said. I heard their footsteps coming towards the door, so I quickly turned the volume back up.

"What was it?" I asked.

"Someone wanted directions, but your Mum didn't know" Dad laughed. I chose to ignore whatever went on in the hallway. I convinced myself it was something to do with Dad's work, he works with criminals, so he's bound to come across some trouble at some point. We watched the end of the film and Mum finished off a tub of chocolate ice cream.

"I'm going to bed, love you both" I said.

"Love you, Moo" they said in unison.
