Darkness

It describes the view of the moonless, charcoal black night. A lone man in a black jacket and black pants is almost unseeable while standing at the top of one of the tallest building in the city. He is scanning the drab view with his wolfish grey eyes, then his sight got fixated for that one particular place.

While the sky looks dull, below it is a full contrast with it's lively colors of blue, red, white, yellow and green. Twinkling lights coming from cars, lamp posts, buildings and traffic signals of a busy city life. The colorful view below looks like varicolored stars that had fallen from the sky with it's glowing lights and endless glimmer. The night also has the perfect breeze, not too strong but still gives that coolness to the skin. A perfect wind for what is about to happen.

The man raises his chin to the air welcoming the gentle november wind on his face as he deeply breathes in. He releases a contented sigh when fresh air fills his lungs. Then, momentarily closes his eyes, caught up by the tranquility of the night. The view from that tall building is close to being perfect. It gives an ethereal feeling that you're closer to heaven than on earth. The man felt a tinge taste of freedom from the serene view but soon it will be nothing but a fleeting feeling, because he is a man imprisoned by his own fate.

He opens his eyes again and twin pools of mayhem can be seen in those grey orbs. He will release a little bit of hell tonight and no one and nothing can stop him. His movement precise as he opened a huge silver colored pallet case and pulled a long and shiny black rifle. With trained hands, the man assembled the rifle and quickly loaded the magazine to the nuzzle of the Barrett M82 SASR sniper rifle.

He searched his target through the sniper scope of his rifle. He scoured across buildings after buildings, streets after streets, fifteen hundred yards from where he stood. A devilsh smirk formed on his lips when his eye locked on his intended target. A man in his late twenties is standing at the balcony smoking his cigarette unaware that he is about to die tonight. The assassin tapped his finger to the binaural earpiece on his left ear to make a call. Then inserted his forefinger into the trigger of the rifle, ready to fire any moment. It would be an easy kill.

"Target locked." The assassin's cold voice uttered to the other line.

"Oh! You're already there?! Hold on a sec." A woman's soft voice from the other line said. Creed clacked his tongue at a momentary delay and retract his finger on the trigger.

"Any minute now." Creed impatiently said as he was still in clear view of the target's forehead and timing is everything in what he is about to do.

"Hold your horses, black sparrow. Naghihintay ako ng go signal." The soft voice replied.

I impatiently clacked my tongue again.

"I'm sorry, black sparrow, but instructions said that it needs to be done in public, with lots of witnesses." the other line said.

I shake my head when I realized that this kill is for show. We are paid to make sure everyone sees how the target will die a brutal death in front of all his people. A dirty move from it's enemy.

I waited as the man finishes his smoke. A curse escaped my lips when my target already walked inside the room. Good thing that the place has glass walls which made it easier for me to kill him. I didn't dare bat an eye on my scope as I follow his every move as he walked into a room full of people. My forehead knotted when suddenly a woman dressed in all white appeared on my lens. She was blocking my view of my target because she's embracing the man.
