SIX

It was the next morning, my mom drove me to school and I didn't talk to her much the whole drive. She tried to make small talk but it only made matters worse. I got out and lowly said 'i love you' and slammed the car door unintentionally before walking up to the school's entrance, I made my way to my locker to see Millie and Sophia waiting beside it.

"Hey y/n!" Millie excitedly waved to me as I approached them, I gave an unenthusiastic wave back and faked a smile but neither of them bought it. "what's wrong?" Sophia asked concerned with my well-being.

"Well, Jack and I broke up. I'm moving and I hate my mom right now." I open my locker and grab my textbook for psychology.

"shit, I'm so sorry y/n... Can we try to make it up to you?" Millie asks, her genuine sympathy was what raised an actual smile from me "I appreciate it girls, but you weren't the cause of my sadness so please don't feel obligated to cheer me up."

Sophia and Millie laughed, "y/n,  are you kidding me?" Sophia raises a brow "We're your friends, of course, we would try our best to make you feel better." she says while crossing her arms

"Yeah, just because we didn't cause it doesn't mean we wouldn't try and fix it." Millie adds giving me a look

"aww," I smile and giggle softly "thank you, guys. I love you, you're truly the best."

"so are you love." millie hugs me tightly 

"and screw Jack, he didn't deserve you." Sophia joins the hug

"yeah let's not talk about him." I sigh and they let go of me, I rub my arm and then grab my textbook. "I'm going to class, I'll catch you later at lunch?"

"yes, see you then!" Millie says and we separate to go to our classes, I arrive at the usual room for psychology is and I see Jack sitting in a different spot, he sits by me but I guess he was able to switch spots with another kid in the class.

I sit down beside her, she gives me a shy smile and I return it before the teacher begins the lesson. 

"I know this isn't the best time to say this but I love your sweater," the girl says I look down at it and then back up at him "thanks, what is your name?"

"Emmy, and you are?"

"y/n"

"nice name"

"thank you, again"

"no problem"

The class was boring, I sat there writing down the notes the teacher - Mr. Brian was handing out talking about, I looked in Jack's direction to only see him talking with Ellie I rolled my eyes and caught him looking over my way. I gave a little wave but he didn't return it, in fact, he looked away giving his full attention to Ellie again.

Once class was over I left to find Sophia and Millie, Emmy was a new girl to the school as well and she didn't have any friends so it was nice to befriend her she seemed nice and cool so I thought why not.

"Hey, this is Emmy." I gesture to her as we sat at our usual table during lunch, Sophia and Millie were already eating they waved and smiled at her "Hi, I'm Millie and this is Sophia" Millie says

"Nice to meet you two, y/n was kind enough to invite me to have lunch I hope you don't mind." she sets her homemade lunch down, carefully opening the glass containers "I also don't enjoy cafeteria food because I'm vegetarian" she explains to us

"oh no worries, we don't care haha" I assure

"so, where are you from Emmy?" Sophia asks

"Well, I moved here from Florida but my dad is still there so if I don't like the rest of this semester I'll be moving." she tells us

"no way, I'm moving there after school is out!" I say she turns to me "really? That's awesome maybe I'll consider heading back there too."

we both laugh

"Where is Ellie?" Millie looks around the room and spots someone, "what the hell?"

"What?" we all turn to see Ellie and Jack sitting at a different table with Noah, Gaten, Caleb and a few other people. Millie stares "ugh" her voice was disgusted "I don't even want to eat anymore" she shoved her food away from her.

Sophia rolled her eyes. "What a dick he is."

"who are we looking at?" Emmy was confused as she looked around, I shook my head "just my ex-boyfriend, his name is Jack."

"Jack in our psychology class?" she wondered I nodded lowly and met eyes with his across the room, I got up and walked out of the cafeteria to clear my mind a bit. I thought one of the girls was following me out to check up on me but when I turned around I was almost face-to-face with the last person I wanted to see right now.

"what do you want Jack?" I muttered playing with the hems of my sleeves, he stopped me in my tracks "I just wanted to see if you are okay."

"before or after you broke up with me?"

"y/n..."

"No, Jack, it's a simple question to answer I mean you broke up with me over text I should at least deserve some sort of explanation or apology in person."

"I panicked, alright. Usually, my girlfriends don't move so suddenly and leave me without having anything to say," he says

"No, because they cheat on you then manipulate you for endless months on end, Jesus Jack! That's the saddest response ever. I gave you a chance to say whatever when I told you the news in my room but what did you do? YOU left me then broke up with me over text." I felt a lump form in my throat as his facial expression was filled with guilt and anger.

"Why the hell would you bring that up? Talia may have been a bitch at times but she could admit it." his eyes narrowed at me and I felt them burning into my soul as I kept eye contact with him, he took a step back and walked away.

"Why am I so dumb..." I mumbled to myself

I am sorry if some of the story chapters are a tad bit off, I keep leaving for long periods of time - not intentionally it was just personal life issues that occurred. - Anyhow, I haven't had time to reread the pages before updating so if there is a section that doesn't fit with future chapters just let me know!
