EIGHT

The music made my head pound, as I tried to make my way around drunk teenagers grinding on top of one another I found the kitchen where there were several beverages to choose from. I walked over to the table and grabbed the most non-alcoholic drink I could find out of them, it was a twisted tea.

"Hey!" Emmy yelled over the music as she approached me I waved awkwardly "hey Emmy."

"So? How do you like the party?" she continued to shout I shrugged "I just got here"

"Oh! I see you found the drinks"

"yeah is there any food here?" I ask

"Uhhh"

I turn to look for a different table that might have food because I was hungry, I bumped into a guy who wasn't paying attention either "oh shoot, I'm so sorry"

"It's okay," he said his face showed by the dim party lights "Finn?" I gasped a little

"Oh hey y/n, how are you?" he stood up straight and brushed off his shirt, I grabbed my drink but it had spilt I sighed and picked up a new can "I'm fine, how are you?"

"Good, good. I was bored so I hosted this party, who brought you as their plus one?"

"I did!" Emmy butted into the conversation smiling widely she linked arms with me "I hope you don't mind, erm..."

"Finn..." he glared at her she sheepishly looked down and laughed "yeah, I'm still new to everyone's names here."

"It's alright," he paused "shit. I'll be right back" he patted my back and walked past me Emmy and I looked where he was walking and saw a couple of people getting their cigarette ashes all over the couch as they laughed over it, Finn went up to them and started lecturing them by the looks of it.

"Who smokes?" Emmy shook her head I shrugged "apparently they do..?"

Then I realized if this is Finn's party...

That means...

"Hey Em." Ellie said from behind us, we both turned around and faced her with Jack he had his arm around her. "ohhhh..." Jack seethed through his teeth "Hey y/n"

"What are you doing here?" he wondered

"Same reason you are, to have fun." I glared

Jack took his arm off of Ellie "I'm going to get some drinks or something, El do you want something?"

"El?" I snorted Ellie narrowed her eyes at me "Yeah, is there a problem?" she spat

Jack excused himself and left us

"No, it's just funny how he calls you by a nickname as if he has to hide you." I smile innocently she scoffs "Are you mad that he never gave you a nickname?"

"Oh he did, it was just baby or babe." I clapped back

"oh-kay, let's all just chill for a second." Emmy desperately said

"Well I guess that didn't last long." she rolled her eyes picking at her nail polish

"How would you know? Not that it's any of your business but we were together for 6 months." I say

"That's it?" she laughed "wow, that now that is - I don't know whether to laugh or-"

"Ellie you're being really rude considering you still have a boyfriend from your last school." Emmy interrupts

"What the hell?" Jack said out of nowhere he was holding two drinks in his hand and some snacks, which were Doritos and sun chips.

"Jack..." Ellie walked up to him but he turned away from her leaving the house I hated seeing Jack hurt and as much as I wanted to run after him I couldn't. He isn't mine anymore and there's nothing I can do about it.

"Hey, where is Jack going?" Finn came up to us after just passing him and Ellie, I shrugged "probably home." I say

"I honestly wish you guys were still a thing, I know it's pretty sensitive to bring up with you but he still talks about you as if there was never conflict between you two. I just think he's hurt that's why he plays this 'I'm not into you anymore' type of act." Finn says

"Can we go somewhere quieter?" I ask him he nods and leads me to his bedroom in a non-seducing way. We walk into the room and I sit down on the chair by his desk, he takes a seat on the floor and there were a few moments of silence before either of us talked.

"He..." Finn began to speak "Jack misses you, a lot, I thought you should know... I got Emmy to invite you specifically then I told him you were going to be here so that's the only reason he showed up."

"I thought you didn't know how I got here?"

He scratched the back of his neck "about that, I just needed it to not look suspicious..."

"Okay, I was about to say parties aren't really his thing..." I say "however, that doesn't explain why his arm was around Ellie."

Finn puts his hands in the air defending himself, "I have no idea why he had his arm or whatever around her but I guaranteed if you asked he would tell you."

"I don't know if I want to talk to him." I mumbled, "He broke my heart and didn't even bother to work through it with me."

"Alright y/n, there's something I should probably let you know." he began "Jack hasn't liked anyone this much before, I mean the things he says about you - the words he uses to describe his feelings towards you is insane for me to hear from him. He truly cares for you and Talia was nothing compared to that, he never talked about her unless she did something stupid or annoying, but with you... He goes on with endless positive compliments on you."

"Like what?"

"He should probably just tell you himself." Finn tilts his head towards the doorway indicating someone is standing there I looked over where he was looking and see Jack standing there awkwardly.

"Jack"

"before you get mad at me I just wanted to say a few things" he walked up to me, I stood up "yeah of course,"

"I'm sorry, okay. I didn't know how to handle losing you it was hard for me, I've never actually felt this way about someone it's so new. I get butterflies around you still and being in love with you is so exciting, probably why I gave up on my ex so quickly to be with you is because I never felt this way about her at all. I kept telling myself she was the one but truth be told, it's you. It's always been you. I'm being so cheesy right now and I apologize sincerely, just know that I love you more than you'll ever know and I will do anything and I mean fucking anything to let you know how much I care and adore you."

"You're stupid," I say making his face drop "But you're my stupid." I kiss him then pull away "Jack as much as a pain in the ass you can be for attracting many girls around I know I've never lost trust or faith in you. You were very good to me and I love spending every second with you, and my mom loves you as she loves you and she doesn't really like anyone let alone boys snooping around her daughter." I say he smiles

"I love you."

"I love you too, dork."

"This is so cute!" Emmy takes a picture of us blinding us with the flash she giggles slightly "sorry!"

"It's okay Emmy," we both say at the same time

"glad to see you two worked things out." Finn patted our backs "I'm like a proud father" he joked we all laughed.

"Should we get out of here? I kind of want to get into comfy clothes and watch YouTube or something." Jack suggests "and I'll let you apply a facemask on me."

"Oh, I'm so down!" I excitedly hop a little "they're clay and Korean you choose."

"Korean duh!" he smiles
