"It's so hot here, we're actually gonna die," Aaron whispered.
"That's the attitude they're counting on," Alicia replied. They were walking side by side through the hotels hallway, the rest of their usual group had finally left them alone.
"Fifteen degrees is a noticeable difference!" Aaron exclaimed. He had her notebook tucked under his arm, her backpack over his shoulders.
She laughed. "You're right. I just can't wait til we have to go back outside in a few hours."
When he turned around, his tooth gap showed. "Oh, hey, this is your room. You have the key, a?"
Alicia froze. "You had the key."
Aaron hummed, shaking his head. "No, I gave it to you."
"It was in your pocket, Aaron." She pointed to the back of his pants pocket. A moment later, he produced the key from his pocket, while juggling the bags. "You're really handling everything."
She shrugged, smiling. She reached over and took her things from him. "I don't know wanna come inside?"
He bit his lip, nervous. "Uh, I don't know.. maybe I shouldn't. If any of them see, they'll start assuming..."
She glanced out into the hallway. "I don't see anyone," she grinned.
He rolled his eyes. "Okay, just for a little bit."
—
"This is the scariest movie, i swear," Alicia mumbled.
"What freaks you out about it?" Aaron asked.
They were in the bed, watching the third the dark knight movie. Alicia was sitting by the pillows while he laid sideways at the foot of the bed. Aaron has draped a blanket over her shoulders a while ago, the room was freezing.
"The idea of drowning, and these mock trials. It's inhuman and scary." Under the blanket, she seemed so small. She shivered.
"Aw," Aaron smiles softly at her. "It's just a movie, sweetie."
"I know," Alicia returned the look. "It still freaks me out though." Suddenly, he smirked at her, causing her to raise an eyebrow. "Aaron, what're you....."
He jumped up form his spot at the end of the bed and tackled her. She yelled and made an effort to push him off. Aaron started tickling her, and she began to struggle more, giggling.
"Stop it!" She pounded on his chest, struggling to slow her breathing.
He paused, grinning. "Are you still scared?"
"No, get away from me," she laughed, even if she didn't want him too.
He stayed planted next to her and they both turned back to the tv in a comfortable silence. Only moments later, another chapter fell through the ice and Alicia winced, leaning toward him. Getting the message, Aaron put a hesitant arm over her shoulders. Alicia curled up into a ball and covered her eyes. She felt more at ease with his arms around her, but told him anyways, "tell me when the scary parts over."
