I walked into Twist the next day, joining Blake in the back room to help her stock the bar.

"Good morning." She said.

I just nodded, grabbing a case of beer from the fridge.

She followed me to the bar, setting a few bottles under it. "You ok?"

I nodded. "Yeah... You remember that girl Maxine?"

She looked up, a slight chuckle escaping her. "Don't you mean 'you know who?'"

I laughed lightly in return. "Yeah, yeah."

Blake shrugged. "I don't remember much about her. But, I do remember the night after her big party."

"I remember getting seriously wasted. That's about it though." I replied

She smiled as she leaned back on the bar. "I remember it like it was yesterday..."

Fourteen years ago...

I was just getting ready to close down Twist for the night, when I heard a knock at the door.

I walked over and opened it, seeing Skylar standing on the other side, tears in her eyes.

"Hey, Blake. Mind if I come in?" She asked.

I nodded, letting her in before closing the door behind her.

She took a seat at the bar and I walked behind it. "You ok?"

She shook her head. "Can I have a drink?"

"Only if you promise to tell me what's wrong." I replied, pulling a beer from the fridge.

She just nodded and I handed her the beer.

She opened it and took a long drink before setting it down, a small sigh escaping her. "I saw Maxine making out with another girl..." Was all she said.

I lowered my head. "Damn, sorry to hear that, kiddo."

She shrugged, taking another big sip of her beer. "You got anything stronger?"

I studied her for a second before pulling out a brand new bottle of Jack Daniels and two glasses.

I filled them and slid one her way. "Here, try this."

She took a sip and forced it down, letting out a few coughs afterwards. "That'll work."

I laughed lightly. "So, what happened?"

"Well, she invited me to the party personally, she told me she was happy I came and even sent Wendy to come find me later on. But, when we found her, she was kissing another girl, almost like I wasn't even there. Like she didn't just ask to see me."

"What'd she want?" I asked.

She shrugged. "I don't know... I left after I saw that and came straight here."

I downed my drink. "I guess I'm not the only one with girl troubles today."

She looked up. "Did you talk to that girl?"

I sighed. "Kind of. She came up to get a drink and I was able to get her name. But, then I walked off, avoiding her for the rest of the night."

"We're pretty hopeless, huh?" She asked.

I raised my drink. "At least we have each other."

She chuckled and clinked her glass with mine before we downed them.
