Jessie’s POV
When I wake up the next morning I sigh sadly. It’s December first. Today is my sixteenth birthday. Most people love their birthdays but in our family your sixteenth birthday is special. On their sixteenth birthdays my parents let my brothers take the car for a run. When Soda turned sixteen he started drag racing. I roll over and see that Dally’s side of the bed is empty. “I really hope they make a big deal about today,” I think sighing.

I roll over and attempt to go back to sleep, when the door bursts open, and the whole gang runs into the room and jumps on my bed. Johnny wheels in and grins at me. “Happy Birthday Jessie,” they sang, giving me hugs and kisses. “Thanks guys,” I say softly.

“Jessie what’s wrong,” Darry asks? “I’m sorry guys, I’m so sorry you guys are being so great and I want to be happy but I just miss them so much.”“Oh Jess we miss them too but they wouldn’t want you to be sad now would they,” Soda says smiling. “I guess you're right,” I say smiling back. Soda reaches over to hug me. I was about to hug back when I felt arms circle my waist and pull me onto their lap. I turn to see Johnny grinning down at me. “Hey,” I say smiling up at him. “Happy Birthday sweetheart,” he says, hugging me tighter. “Thanks best friend,” I say kissing his cheek. “Hey Johnny are you even supposed to be doing this?” “Jess, stop my legs can’t get any worse so you're fine.” “Good,” I say, hugging him. “ok, ok hands off my girl Cade,” Dal says glaring playfullilly . “Fine,” Johnny says laughing.

I hop off his lap and walk over to Dally wrapping my arms around him. “Happy Birthday baby,” Dal whispers in my ear. I smirk and lean up and kiss him. I wrap my arms around his neck and deepen the kiss. “Brothers in the room,” Darry yells, placing his hands on my shoulders. I pull away and whisper, “thanks.” “Ok enough of this mushy stuff, come on downstairs,” Two Bit yells! “Ok,” I say running towards the stairs. “Woah lady, you think you're walking,” Dally says, wrapping an arm around my waist. “What?” “It’s time for the ceremonial birthday piggy back ride,” Pony yells! “Hop on Princess,” Dal says leaning down.  I hop on Dal’s back and he sprints down the stairs. He runs full speed towards the couch and throws me down on it. The rest of the gang follows, Steve coming down last holding his side.

“Oh Steve I’m so sorry I’ll get new bandages,” I say standing up to help him sit on the couch. But Steve stops me and pushes me back on the couch. “Hold your horses girl,” Soda says. “You always do everything for everyone and most days that's fine but today we are going to treat like a queen, so sit back relax and enjoy!” “ Works for me,” I say, flopping down on the couch next to Steve. Dal comes over and picks me up and places me on his lap. I snuggle into his chest and hug him as everyone else goes to get cake and presents. “Did you sleep at all last night,” he whispers in my ear? I shake my head against his chest. He sighs and holds me tighter.

I open my eyes when I hear people come back into the room. “Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Jessie happy birthday to you,” they all sang happily. I grinned, “thanks guys!” Darry puts a huge three layered chocolate cake in front of me with sixteen candles on top. I blew them out and everyone clapped and cheered. “Happy Birthday baby,” Dally whispered in my ear, hugging me tightly and kissing my cheek. “Ok you can have the first cut,” Darry says, handing me a knife. I cut big slabs of cake for everyone and handed them out. We all eat our cake and laugh and joke then Soda yells, “time for presents!” Then he sprints out of the room and returns a few seconds later with a stack of presents.

He sets them in front of me and grins. “Ok Jess go ahead.” I pick up the top present and tear off the wrapping paper.  I picked up the card and it reads “Happy Birthday kiddo Love: Mickey Mouse.” I smile, “thanks Two Bit.” I pull off the top of the box and pull out a red crop top, back skinny ripped jeans and black very heeled boots. “Two Bit I have so many things to say.” “Shoot kid.” “First of all thank you I love everything, second how did you manage to find clothes that actually fit me, and third you stole everything in this box didn’t you?” “Your welcome, my sister helped me, and yes I did,” he finished smirking.
