Dally’s POV
When I wake up the next morning Jessie’s side of the bed is empty. I groan and sit up, sluggishly pulling on my shirt. I walk downstairs. When I get into the living room I see Jessie changing Steve’s bandages.

He hisses in pain. “Jesus,” I mutter. “I know sexy right,” he mutters, his face pale. I chuckle. “Morning Dal,” she says, kissing my cheek. “I’m going to go grab some clean bandages.” When she gets back, she gently takes off Steve’s bandage. He hisses in pain again. “I’m sorry,” she says, rubbing his hand comfortingly. She grabs a cotton ball and soaks it in peroxide, she dabs around the cut getting rid of the dried blood. “There, all clean,” she says smiling. She grabs a fresh bandage and tapes it on. “Ok, flip over so I can clean your back,” she says, helping him lie on his stomach.I look at his back and cringe. Jessie begins to gently clean each gash. She's so gentle, way more gentle then I would ever know how to be. “Ok all done,” she says standing up. “Now you stay here and watch some TV, you are not allowed to stand up for at least a week. Understand,” she says sternly. “Yes Dr.Curtis,” he says sarcastically. “Thank-you,” she says.

“Hey Jessie, want to go see what Soda’s doing at the DX?” “Sure,” she replies. I quickly changed into some jeans and a black t-shirt. I throw on my infamous brown leather jacket. I head downstairs and see Jessie, wearing jeans, a red sweater, with a black beanie and a black scarf. “Ready,” she asks, smiling? “Yep, let’s go,” I say grabbing her hand after she slips on her coat and boots. “Bye Steve,” she says. “Bye,” he says turning the volume up on the TV.

We walk to the DX in comfortable silence. When we get there Jessie sneaks up behind Soda and jumps on his back. “Surprise,” she yells, laughing! “Hey Jess,” he says smiling at her. “How’s Steve?” “Better, when we left he was watching “Cool Hand Luke,” she said smiling. “Sounds good, well you guys should hang out I could use the company.”

I hop up on the counter and grab three Cokes from the fridge. I hand one to Jessie and Soda and crack one open for myself. We just sat and talked for a while, till we heard a car pull up to the pumps. “I’ll be right back guys,” Soda says and runs outside. Then we hear Soda say, “what the fuck are you doing here?”

I frown and walk outside to see what’s going on. I gowl, there sitting in his car smirking is Bob Sheldon. “Can’t you take a hint Sheldon, get the hell out of here,” I growled.“You know if you refuse to serve me I can have you fired.” “Oh and I think you should know Winston I’m pressing charges for assault,” he says nonchalantly. I don’t say anything I just glare.

“Hey Dal what’s going on,” Jessie says coming out of the garage. I loop my arm around her and pull her into my side. “Oh Bob here is threatening to sue me for assault.” “Hey sweetheart,” he says winking. “Ok mind if I pipe in here,” she says, pulling away from me.
"Let me ask you something Bob, do you have any scars?”
“Scars?"
“Yeah scars.”
“No,” he replied in a board tone.
“Oh how great for you, well guess what I do. And guess who gave them to me. Oh you don’t know let me clear it up. You did,” she says, smiling sweetly.
“What’s your point,” he asks dully?
“My point is you have zero evidence that Dally beat you to a pulp, but I on the other hand have lots.”
“What the hell are you talking about,” he says glaring.
“I have my scar, I have the doctor reports from when I had to be rushed to the hospital and those are legally binding. Oh and one more itty bitty thing, your switch that still has my blood and your fingerprints all over it. Which by the way is also legally binding. Which you would know if you read a book, which I bet you haven’t.” She smirked, taking great pride at the shocked look on his face.
“How the hell did you get that,” he yells angrily!
“I went back and got it.”
He glares. “What are you trying to say Curtis?”
“Leave Dally alone cause if you press charges against him I’m going to press charges against you and I’ll bet every cent you have that I’ll win. So I suggest you start the car and get the hell out of here or you're going to be looking at the same four laws for a very long time,” she snarled.
“Fine Curtis you win,” he growls, then he rolls up his window and speeds off.

She turns grinning at us.  My mouth drops. Then she skips home her boots clicking against the sidewalk.

I watch as she skips home with a huge grin on her face. My mouth is still hanging open. “How the hell did she do that,” Soda says, gaping at me. “I have no idea that girl never ceases to surprise me ,” I say smiling at Jessie’s skipping figure in the distance.

When I get back to the Curtis house, I guess I can call it my home now since I pretty much live here. Anyway when I got home Steve was lying on the couch asleep, and Two Bit and Johnny were playing cards. “Hey guys where’s Jess,” I ask? “Upstairs, she looked really happy what happened,” Two Bit asked? “I’ll explain later,” I say laughing and headed upstairs.

When I get up to Jessie’s room I see her lying on her bed reading a book. I flop down next to her. “Hey,” she says happily. “Hey you look happy,” I say smiling at her.”I am, I just bested Bob Sheldon and I’m not scared anymore.” I grin, “how did you do that?” “What do you mean?” “Bob Sheldon is the biggest ass I’ve ever met, how did you get him to let everything go?” “Bob’s an idiot and he knows nothing about the legal system cause no matter how much trouble he gets himself  into his daddy bails him out. So throw some hard evidence at him and he will most certainly buckel.”

“God she’s smart,” I think smiling. “Why thank you,” she replies, kissing my cheek. “I said that out loud didn’t I.” “Yep,” she says popping the p. “Hey Jess.” “Yeah.” “I love you.” “You know you said that out loud too right?” “I’m aware,” I say kissing her. “I love you too, so much,” she whispers against my lips. I pull her down by her waist so her lips meet mine again. She smiles and rolls off of me, leaving me with a shocked look on my face.
