The air crashed violently on her face as she flew above the endless sea. Between the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom, there was a vast ocean that spread over the globe. The more she flew to the other side of the planet, the more she thought that maybe it wasn't such a good idea. It was night, the sun had disappeared.
She saw thick clouds that had gathered in the sky in the distance. When she approached, she saw that it was actually an entire storm, judging from the loud thuds and the lights that reflected from the inside.
Now that was a bad idea. Iris looked around the clouds to find a place to maybe fly around and past them, but they were spread all around the sea, just like the Fire Nation Blockade used to. It was already a mistake to travel like that in the middle of the night, and now it had gotten worse.
With nothing but the Moon's light and the flashes of lightning of the thunder, Iris urged into the storm. It was raining violently. The raindrops were falling too hard and fast over her glider's fabric. Iris closed her glider and she kept flying above the massive waves using Guru Laghima's technique (brief a/n: please don't read 'ligma').
Iris placed her staff in a case she had behind her back and she kept heading west. Or at least she hoped she was heading west. The thick clouds didn't let any moonlight surpass them, but the flashes of lightning that kept hiting the ocean were providing enough light.
Iris was never afraid of the thunder. The basting sound that came from the clouds as they collided with each other, didn't scare her. She'd seen and been through more frightening situations.
Iris slowed down and stopped just in time when another lightning hit the sea. She stopped just in time before the electricity had the chance to fry her right then and there. She was soaking wet from the raindrops that kept falling all around her. She felt another load of electricity ready to strike right where she stood.
Iris flew right away before the lightning struck at the exact spot she was standing. It was strange how the weather seemed to be targeting her. Like some force was controlling it deliberately to harm her. No... someone was trying to harm her. She assured it when the same thing happened in the next five or six times.
At some point, she was convinced that she'd safer in the ocean than in the air. She looked at the altitude she was comparing to the ocean. From a normal point of view, she was many feet high and maybe jumping in the ocean from that altitude was suicide. But Iris during her missions as an assassin, she had to jump higher to survive.
She let go and fell towards the water. She moved her hands upwards, lifting the water towards her. She'd taken a deep breath before she fell in the water. She created an underwater bubble around her face with her airbending so she could breathe as she swam. She used her waterbending to give herself a push and swim a little bit faster.
Although underwater the things were darker, with the next lightning that struck the surface, Iris saw something moving in the distance. She stopped swimming and waited for the next lightning. When another struck of light came from the surface, Iris saw the face of a massive sea serpent slithering towards her.
Oh, you gotta be kidding me!
Iris spun her body around and came out of the water with a water tornado. The beast jumped out of the ocean and headed towards her, opening its mouth, ready to devour her.
"Shit!" Iris let out as she bent the water and created icy spikes and threw them towards the beast. One of the spikes was stabbed on its chest. It screamed out in pain and then it attacked her again. Its tail came from behind to push her away. Iris stopped standing on the water tornado and she stayed in the air with Guru Laghima's technique (brief a/n: please don't read ligma).
