Three days. It had been three days since Jeno last left the house. Three days of complete and utter boredom and stress. Of course, his parents had taken his phone away. All forms of electronics had been inaccessible for Jeno, so he had no way of communicating with any of his friends.

He had devoted his attention to books. Yes, books, hoping that it would distract him from the endless whispering of the name Renjun over and over in his head.

Because of this, Jeno's parents didn't even let him go to school. You would think that his parents would care more about his education. But for Jeno, this wasn't the case.

Jeno had spent almost half of his time trapped in his room sitting at the door, with a paperclip, trying to figure out how to pick the lock.

Why hadn't he tried to learn this skill before? Maybe because he never expected himself to be locked in his own room by his parents, or by anyone for that matter.

He didn't even have any internet. Now he could only hope that the lock would open from his endless poking, which would be a miracle if it actually worked.

Renjun on the other hand was freaking out more and more every single day. His friends had to do everything possible to calm him down. Buying him endless Moomin merch from the mall, but even that wouldn't help.

He just needed to know that Jeno was okay.

It was now nine o'clock on a Wednesday evening. Jeno was once again, sitting at the door trying to pick the lock.

"Why am I even trying?" Jeno whispered to himself.

click.

Jeno's jaw dropped. There was no way he had heard that correctly.

Slowly and cautiously, Jeno turned the doorknob and he watched as the door opened just the slightest crack.

"no way," Jeno whispered. He pinched himself just to make sure that he wasn't dreaming.

He closed the door. It was too early now, he would have to wait until his parents fell asleep. Maybe, he could sneak out of the house. After all, Renjun was his neighbour. He was pretty sure his parents didn't know that, and he was planning to keep it that way.

The next two hours felt like the longest hours of his life. Obviously sneaking out wouldn't solve all of the problems that Jeno had to deal with right now. If anything, his parents would come find him when they realized he was missing in the morning. The punishment would be even worse, but he didn't mind.

All he needed to do was make sure Renjun was safe. When he said he would do anything to protect the boy, he meant it.

When he was sure that his parents had fallen asleep, he quickly made his way to the door of his room, slowly opening the door and slipping through. When he got downstairs, he saw his phone sitting on a table. Quickly taking it and opening the front door.

Fresh air. He didn't know how much he missed it.

When he got to Renjun's front door, he brought his hand up to the doorbell and rang it continuously, only stopping after finally hearing footsteps.

Renjun opened the door. Blinking his eyes after seeing who was standing in front of him, and then wrapping his arms around Jeno in a tight embrace.

"Jeno?"

"Yes it's me, baby," Jeno answered.

"I'm not dreaming?" Renjun asked, looking like he was on the brim of bursting into tears.

Jeno smiled and bent down to reach the smaller's lips.

"god I missed you so much," Jeno whispered.

That was all it took for Renjun to break down. Letting go of all of the tears he had been holding in the past three days. All while Jeno held him. Softly and delicately, as if the boy would break if you held him too hard.

"How-" Renjun started but was cut off by Jeno.

"I'll explain tomorrow, but for now we should both go to sleep," Jeno said.

Renjun nodded, both laying down. Renjun snuggled right up to Jeno's strong body.

He hadn't slept for days and neither had Jeno. But next to each other, both boys settled easily into the comfort of the other, quickly drifting off to sleep.
