SANEM AND CAN: OUR LIFE WILL NEVER BE BORING

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

The next few weeks were very busy, as Sanem would take Nonna for treatments one day a week.   Then she and the four children would go to story time at the library until time to pick her up. Sometimes Mihriban would take Nonna Cemile and stay with her for the treatments.   She was improving slowly with the new chemo drugs, and had very little side effects.    Dante was so happy the first time that he and Nonna got to go walk around the Sanem's garden together.

One Friday night Sanem and Can invited all of the family over for a visit.    Mevkibe and Nihat had fallen in love with Dante and could not wait to meet Nonna Cemile.   She had been having a treatment when Sanem took Dante by to meet them one day.   Sanem's parents were so proud of Sanem and Can, for adopting Dante and taking care of his Nonna. 

 They were amazed that Can had paid attention to Sanem's dreams.   They had always ignored any of her wild thoughts or dreams.    Now they wonder if they should not have treated her as a silly child.    Maybe they had missed some important things by ignoring her.

She and Can had gone over one night when Emre and Leyla had come to babysit all the children and get to know Nonna better.   Can had told them everything that they had learned from Nonna.    Lots of tears were shed when he told Sanem's parents all that they had learned.   They were excited to have another grandchild, and new friend.

That Friday night was a wonderful night of family, friends, and new friends.    Mihriban and Aziz had told Nonna Cemile all about Huma and her dirty tricks.   She was shocked to hear everything Huma had done since Aziz had married her.   Cemile was very happy that Mihriban and Aziz had finally found happiness.   She was very happy with all of the Divit's and Aydin's, especially since this was all of Dante's new family.

When she told everyone all of this, Sanem stood up and said, "Oh don't you worry, I have already ask Metin to include you in the adoption.    You will be an official member of this family, because we are adopting you, too."

Everyone had a good laugh, but Can said, "Oh, she's not kidding, she has ask for the procedure to include you, also.   Leave it to my wife, she never leaves anyone out."    A very happy group sat around the patio that night, feeling very blessed to be a part of such a loving family.

Over the next few weeks, the adoption was completed of Dante and Nonna Cemile.    The judge that processed the adoptions, said, "This is a very unusual adoption to adopt the child and grandmother both.    But as I have never had so many people in my courtroom before, from one family, it must be approved by all.   He had Can and Sanem stand with Metin and the Rossi's.   He declared that Dante and Cemile Rossi were now Dante and Cemile Rossi Divit.   Then he looked at all the family in the courtroom and smiling said, "Okay, this one time I will allow cheering in my courtroom."     As he said that, three little almost four years olds ran up and grabbed Dante saying, "Our brother."    The girl's grabbed Dante's hands and Ates just grinned and said, "Always be nice to the ladies."

The whole courtroom laughed and the judge laughingly said, "Baba you have taught your son well."   Can was grinning, because nobody believed him that Dante had taught Ates to say 'be nice to the ladies.'

About two weeks after the adoptions were finalized, was Dante's ninth birthday.    Sanem planned a big combination party for his birthday and adoption party.   She wanted some children his age, turning nine to be invited, also.   With Mihriban's help, as she seems to know everyone, they were able to meet a few of the children he would be with in school.   There actually was one boy age nine that lived down the street from Sanem and Can.    Mihriban knew his family and brought them over to meet Sanem and the children one day.

Their Anne, was a beautiful young lady about thirty years old named Yonca.   She is a single mother.   She has two sons, Baris age nine and Taylan age four and one/half.   The boys had so much fun playing with Ates and Dante, and the girls, that they were begging to come back and play again really soon.
