A FEW YEARS AGO

WHEN YOU FIRST SAW ERI INSIDE THE HOUSE, she was aloof. The thing is, Eri Aizawa is not your biological sister. Although it isn't noticeable because she has off white-bluish hair which makes her a bit like your mother. Her dress was a little stained probably caused by some kid from the preschool Naomi was partly teaching in. "Shota?" she called out to your father who had just gotten out of his home office. "Yes, dear?" Naomi beamed as he saw the man stretching and walking down the stairs and to the living room where you were staring at the little child behind your mother's legs. You were in your last year of middle school when all this happened.

"Shota, I want a new child." your mother said as she stared at the taller male, gaining a confused look on his face. "You want to get a cat...?" Shota asked kind of oblivious to the fact that a tiny girl was hiding behind Naomi's legs. You wanted to facepalm deeply but you kept your mouth shut as your mother continued to explain. "No, silly! I meant something else." Naomi suggested, doing the jazz hands and Shota thought again for another minute, his eyes squinting as he did.

"Damn, I was hoping for a cat but... if you want one so badly, get your ass in the bedroom." your father scratched the side of his neck while smirking, a small chuckle erupting from his lips. "Shota." Naomi puffed her cheeks as she tried to hide the embarrassment that was now tinted on them. "I meant, I want to adopt a child."

"OH-" Shota's eyes widened as he tried to comprehend Naomi adopting another child. It was hard enough to take care of you and taking one in might add up to the family stress but upon seeing Naomi's hopeful face, his expression softened into a small smile. "Why so, dear?" Naomi lifted her shoulders and clasped her hands together. "The child is just too precious not to take in and... she's been living at the preschool for quite a long time now..." Eri's parents neglected her and left her in front of the preschool in which the teachers took pity of her and decided to take care of her while she finds a new home.

Maybe this was it.

"I'm getting a little sibling?" The shock on your face was evident but your whole mood lit up when you heard that you were going to be an older sister. You jumped up and down your spot, your ponytail swaying around the whole time while a hopeful Naomi was still convincing a doubtful Shota. "Well, yes, honey! That is if your father agrees!" The female looks at Shota who was squinting, trying hard not to give in to his wife's convincing powers.
