CHAPTER TWENTY:
We Choose To Love Over Anything Else

✧ ✧ ✧

MAYBE IT WAS JUST THE TENSION SHOTA BROUGHT UPON THE ROOM. Yshi felt a cold shiver run down her spine as she entered the Aizawa house for what seemed like a while now. There was now a tiny bit of dust settling on the shelves and the disarranged chairs and disorganized papers scattered on the floor was enough to make Yshi say 'what the fuck?' out loud. Shota, who had been sitting in his office, heard her loud cursing causing him to stand up and open the door. "Uh, hi?" Yshi smiled as she waved at the black haired male.

Shota looked ugly.

If there was anything straight up flashing in the female's mind right now--it was that sentence. The frown on his face and his eyes red from the lack of sleep didn't help his appearance either. His polo had a few unbuttoned buttons and his tie was tied around his neck like some sort of choker. "You don't look good," Yshi cocked her eyebrows as her mouth slanted. "And you don't smell good either. Is this what you have been doing for the whole duration of your sick leave at school?"

Shota groaned as he shot the female a glare. "I'm not here to be told off by you again."

"And honestly, I'm not supposed to be here." She shrugged as she rolled her eyes. "You're lucky I still have the time to check your stupid fucking ass once in a while." Shota felt his chest tightening at her words but the numbness he felt was enough to make him shrug the painful words off. "I know you've been worried sick about your family, Shota but what you're feeling now is sort of your fault..."

"Is there anything else you needed or are you here to feast on my misery?" Shota asked as he sighed, leaning on the office door's doorframe. Yshi hummed for a while, eyeing Shota if he was ready for anything she was about to say. She signaled for Shota to take a seat. The male was hesitant but he soon found it hard to fight against the female; any more disobedience and he's sure his best friend would finally leave him too. Once they were both settled down, Yshi's finger tapped on her knee, her dark eyes travelling up and down Shota's uneasy figure.

You just have to be honest, she remembered Keigo's advice as she looked down, her mouth finally opening to say something. Yshi took a deep breath before telling Shota that you had come back. The shocked expression on the male's face was overpowered by his sense of relief that you were alive. In the slightest sense, a small prick inside his chest on the thought of you being dead was pulled out but he still had plenty more to remove--other splinters might even cause him to bleed too much. For him, the pain he's dealing with right now was not sufficient to the pain he had caused the weeks prior.

Yshi continued to give him updates about everything that has happened--from Naomi drinking too much wine and eating too much cheese to Eri doing well in school while Keigo takes care of her. The male's initial responses to these statements were just nods and hums of approval but Yshi knew that he was thinking of something else--and that her voice was just being drowned out by his own thoughts swirling in his mind. "Do you want to know anything going on at the school?"

Shota nodded.

"Thought so," she chuckled as she shook her head. "Hitoshi's doing a great job handling the student council activities and taking over (your name)'s previous actions. Though the others are still pretty bummed about her disappearance, I'm sure they'd be relieved to know that she's back and that she'll be doing well with home--" Yshi was cut off by Shota's sudden raising of his hand. She tilted her head and furrowed her brows, her long hair following right after as the male parted his lips to talk. "Just bring her back to school."
