Day 9: Natural Light

Along with these two I wrote another poem that showcases a different way you could interpret "natural light" that can be found in my Chance (Poetry Collection) book!

Gentle Friend
The rays seep in
through half shut blinds
They hit my tan skin
which has caused me
so much hurt
the source of harsh names
and stereotypes
I want to hide away
I want to stop it
from hurting me too
But when those thin fingers
wrap around my cold skin
they caress me so softly
gentle and warm
And so I look closer
at my glowing flesh
at the tiny blue rivers
that snake down my arms
and where bruises have blossomed
from either work or play
And that warm touch reminds me
of what I have survived
that I can heal from those bruises
from whatever the world throws at me
I will heal

Bright New Start
Night subsides to pinks and yellows
Across the sky, the colors reach out
To dance across the quiet forest
Under the brightening colors a
Rainbow of life begins to
Awaken and emerge from their homes to
Liter the soft brown earth

Leaves catch the dripping yellow glow an
Integral part of the world to
Generate energy that they share
Here in this forest and everywhere
The beautiful colors radiate through the sky
