Start
I am on my way to my attorney's office. Tinawagan niya kase ako dahil may importante daw siyang sasabihin sa'kin.
I assume the annulment papers were already signed. I smiled at the thought, finally.
Pagkarating ko roon ay agad akong sinalubong ni Attorney Castañeda. Pinaupo niya ako at pinatimplahan ng kape sa kanyang sekretarya.
"I'm okay attorney, please just go straight to the point. May taping pa po kase ako right after this." I said in a monotone
Tumikhim siya at umayos ng upo.
"This is about your grandfather's testament," panimula ni attorney
"Yes? What about it attorney? Diba na elaborate mo naman na sakin lahat?" nakakunot noo kong tanong
Lumunok muna sya at problemado akong tinignan.
"May karugtong pa pala iyon Amanda, and it says that you will only inherit your grandpa's wealth if you stay married for 10 years. The problem is, we've already sent your husband the annulment papers last month and probably, it was already signed."
Nanlaki naman ang mata ko sa sinabi ni attorney. Ang maganda kong mood ay agad na nasira.
"What? But how did it happened attorney? Akala ko ba binasa nyo yun ng paulit-ulit?!?" galit kong sigaw
Mukhang mapupurnada pa ata lahat ng plano ko dahil sa lintik na kapalpakan ni Attorney Castañeda.
"I'm sorry Miss Lopez, I know I was wrong." napapailing niyang saad
Napairap ako. I laughed without humor. Sorry? Ganun ganun nalang? After I assumed na maaannul na ako? Sorry lang ang matatanggap ko? How pathetic.
"Walang saysay yang sorry mo attorney, so..." bumuntong hininga ako at pinaypayan ang sarili para kumalma man lang kahit na kaunti "What are we gonna do now? I deserve lolo's properties, I already had plans for them, and now this happens? Tell me attorney, what should we do?" mahinahon kong tanong, pilit pinapakalma ang sarili
I need to lower down my ego. Alam kong kailangan ko ng tulong ni Attorney to get what I want kahit na naiinis ako sa kanya.
"You need to go to your husband and stop him from signing the papers since you're not yet 10 years married. Pagkatapos ng tatlong buwan, pwede na siyang pumirma since you'll be 10 years married by then."
Go to my husband? How dare he demand me such thing?
"No freaking way would I ever do that attorney! Ipagawa mo nalang sakin ang lahat wag na wag mo lang akong papupuntahin at pahaharapin sa lalaking yun!"
"But Miss Lopez, that's the only way." pinal nyang saad
"Can't you go there? Bakit kailangang ako pa? Or we can just message him, like hello attorney, we all have the means, we're in a modern world now! Why do I need to go there pa?"
Ni hindi ko pa nga yun nakikita, baka mamaya, matanda na pala yun, and I'm like, ugh disgusting!
"Your husband is a very respected individual Miss Lopez, I expect you know that. For sure, he'll send me out with the papers signed if I will go there. Might as well you try your luck since you are the wife."
Ramdam ko ang pag-asim ng mukha ko sa sinabi ni attorney. Respected individual my ass.
"No way! No freaking way, attorney naman! I trusted you with this one! Ngayon pinapasa mo sakin ang dapat eh trabaho mo!" galit kong sumbat
"I already did my job Miss Lopez, please if you really want to get your grandfather's wealth, then might as well do your part." giit nya
Nakakainis. Nakakainis. He looked so freaking sure that it is the only way and I am stuck with no other choice but to do it even if it sounds impossible and disgusting!
"Okay fine."
For wealth and freedom, I'm going to do it. For the first and last time, I'm going to see my future ex-husband. Ugh.
