The New Step Mom

Narrator POV:

The days that followed after the funeral seemed somewhat tense but every time that Jughead would ask Betty if something was wrong, she'd always say no but he wasn't entirely convinced. He felt Betty distant ever since he asked her about being pregnant and that has him feeling nervous. He'd watch her every chance he could and every time that he did, he'd noticed that radiant glow was still there and he knows he wasn't crazy since he overheard her friends telling her the same thing so he decided to take action. 

"Hey Toni, do you mind taking JB out with you? I need to have a serious talk with Betty about something" He says to his friend who so happened to be his fathers lawyer as well, Toni nods her head yes but he see's her a bit too tense giving him the hint that she knows something. 

"What's wrong with you Topaz?" He asks her with curiosity. 

Toni looks at him with a weird look and shrugs her shoulder acting innocent "Uh, I don't know what you're talking about" She says, getting off the stool and trying to leave the home office since technically all the paperwork she needed was all in order. 

Jughead knows for a fact that Toni knew something about Betty so he decided to act like if he knew too "So I'm guessing you heard huh" he asks her with a sigh playing the part. She stops in her tracks and quickly turns around with a small smile on her face and walks back over to the desk "So she finally told you huh? How'd you take it?" She asks him, so Betty has a secret. 

"Yeah she did and honestly, I don't know. I'm a bit nervous I guess you can say I didn't really handle it well so we aren't really talking" He says to her hoping this time she'll go into more detail. 

She lets out a sigh and runs her hands through her hair , he waits for her to say something drinking out of his water "I understand that it can be difficult but she really needs you right now Jones, I mean a baby changes everything but I really think you should man up and be there for her" She says, Jughead widens his eyes and spits out the water he had in his mouth in a instant making Toni jumps up in disgust wiping the sprinkles of water mixed with saliva that landed on her. "Jones what the hell is your problem? " Toni yells out, before Jughead could respond Betty opens the door and rushes inside the office. 

Jughead's eyes instantly land on her as she runs over to Toni and asks her why she yelled. 

"You're pregnant and you didn't fucking tell me!?" He yells out well actually more like growled out as he stood up from the desk chair he was just sitting on, Betty looked over at him in shock as well as Toni "I thought she had already told you, you dick!" Toni spits out 

Betty runs her hands through her face then through her hair ignoring Jughead's question and rushes out the office, Jughead following her closely behind not caring to say anything to Toni or the fact that they just left here there without saying a word to her. 

Betty rushes up the stairs and goes into the bedroom that they now both share and tries to close the door behind her but Jughead places his foot on the crook of the door keeping it from closing. "So when were you planning on telling me about my baby huh Betty?" Jughead growls out to her, slamming the door behind him. Betty turns around and scoffs at his question shaking her head in disbelief "Oh I don't know since you're so fucking eager to become a father right?" She snaps back at him with anger. "You clearly said to me that you didn't want kids, Jughead! So what was I suppose to do?" She asks him now in a softer tone, almost as if she were in pain. 

"I said right now Betty,  I didn't say I never wanted kids" He says to her, hoping that'll give her some kind of comfort but from what he see's it doesn't. 

"Jughead, do you really think that was suppose to make me feel better?" She asks him with sadness. 

"Well no but I kind of thought we still had time I mean, I don't know Betty" He says to her now knowing what to say without hurting her even more than he already has since that's literally the last thing he wants to do right now. 

"What does that even mean Jughead!? We fuck and we fuck a lot and should I remind you we don't use any fucking protection so how the fuck did you think that we weren't going to get pregnant?" She asks him, making him think. 

"Look I get I said some stupid shit that night but it doesn't change the fact that I'm excited about having a baby Betty, look-" He says then smiles a bit as he recalls the moment he first noticed the glow she's been having and now knowing that it was because she was carrying his seed made his heart flutter "The day of the funeral I started seeing you with this glow, i don't know if I make any sense but you just looked so much more beautiful and I couldn't stop thinking why but now that I know, baby why wouldn't I be happy?" He then says to her, walking slowly towards her 

"You mean that?" She asks instantly as she watches him walking towards her "You're not mad or anything?" She asks him. 

"Baby, I know it seemed like I didn't want  a baby and I will apologize day and night for that but truth of the matter is that there is nobody else that I'd rather have this baby with." She smiles a bit with a slight giggle slipping out of her mouth as he reaches her and pulls her in for a hug and a kiss. His hand running over her little stomach. "I guess I was just afraid of sharing you but I guess that's childish huh?" He asks her as they pull apart from each other, Betty nods her head no "No baby,it's understandable but you do have to learn how to share since our baby will require a lot of our attention" She says to him emphasizing on the word our making Jughead laugh.
