Jess just showed up at the door of my place. Not only that; she also heard me singing. I'm stunned! What is she doing here? I hide my emotions quickly before she sees them on my face.

"What? Is it illegal to meet my daughter, we're family," she said. I don't look at her. I just take my keys out.

"So, you're going to ignore me," she said after she realized that I'm not going to react.

I am just tired of the drama, lately, a lot of dramas are happening in my life. I call Sara while Jess still follows me. Doesn't she get the hint?

"Hey Avar," Sara answers cheerfully.

"Hey Sara, what are you doing right now?" I asked.

"Well, I was about to go to a club. There is a new one close to my place..." She stopped herself from saying any further. "why?" She asks suspected.

"Well, change of the plan. Come here. I don't want to be alone," I said the last part while looking at Jess showings her how much I want her to leave my place.

"Yea, sure I'll be there in about ten minutes,"

"Yea, see you in ten" I repeated Sara so that Jess knows that my friend is going to be here soon.

"Alright," Sara said before we hang up.

Jess is still here. Staring at me. It seems like she's not planning on going anywhere anytime soon. It's becoming kinda creepy! I look out the window till Sara gets out of her car. I just realize that Jess is not going anywhere. I wear my jacket and get out of my place. I close the door once I get out of the house. Seeing Sara, I smile.

"Hey. Let's go somewhere else," I said not wanting to go home.

"What is there someone at your place officer," she said chuckling, wait for what? She knows, but how? I feel sick even thinking Max might be responsible for her knowing about me being a cop that I am. I decided to ask her. "What?" I said still not sure if she called me officer. Maybe I just heard it wrong.

"Oh right, Max told me that you are an officer, I didn't believe him of course, but I thought that would be a great way of approaching, and joking. I know that you are older than me because you told me," she said.

That's true, I have told her that I am older than her because I didn't have enough money to enroll in college. I never lied to her. She deserves to know everything. There's a chance that I lose my best friend forever by telling her everything about myself, but there is also a chance that my bond would be stronger. Well, I guess there's only one way to know.

"I am a police officer, but believe me that I didn't lie to you. If you ask me how old I am or what my job is I would tell you," I said, and meaning it.

"What? you think I'm mad at you. Well, that can never happen. You are my best friend," she replied. I'm relieved.

"You deserve to know some other stuff too," I started before telling her everything.

"So you are saying that Jess is at your place? Is it safe to leave your place like that," she said. I shake my head. I told her every crazy thing, and the first thing that comes to her mind is that if it's safe my birth mother is in my place.

"I can't make her go," I finally replied. She looks me in the eyes before leaning close to me. Oh how much I want to be a guy right now. I'd take her to... No no no I need to stop thinking like that. She's just trying to comfort me.

After a minute or so staying at my front door, I shake my head. "You are right, do you think we should go inside?" I asked breaking the silence.

"Whatever you think is for the best hon," her own eyes open wide realizing that she just called me hon. "I mean, sis," she covered it up. I smile. I liked how she called me hon!

I hold her hand to mine, still looking at her perfect lips. Chuckling awkwardly, I avert my glance from her. "Let's go to my place then there's nothing to hide," I tell her as we get to the door. I hold the knob before I turn it to open the door, Sara kiss me in my lips. I look at her shocked. We share a smile and I kiss her back. "Let me open the door," I told her.

"I love you," she said to me. For the first time in my life, someone actually uses the sentence I love you on me. I smile. "I mean it. I will protect you," she added.

I lean in and kiss her, and to my surprise, she kisses me back with passion. Perhaps I do know what family is! Family is not necessary by blood.

I open the door. Immediately after I opened it, BANG, I heard a gunshot. Before I can see or react anything I fell unconscious.

Sara

Right after the door opened, the sound of a gunshot came from inside. The bullet hit Avar, and just like that. Avar's big, strong beautiful body fell on the floor. Is this really the end? I hope not. I just confessed to her that I love her and this happened.

I looked around only to see a lady similar look as Avar holding a gun in her hand while sobbing.

I huffed before I holding Mercede in my arms. What kind of mother shoot their child? I take out my phone and call for the ambulance. Jess kept talking, but I just don't listen to her.

Avar

I opened my eyes only to see that I'm laying on a bed, wait this is a hospital room. I'm laying on the hospital bed.

"You are up!" I heard a shaky voice calling me. She then holds my hands to show that she's not going anywhere.

I look down at myself, feeling a sharp pain on my lower abdomen. "Someone shot me?" I ask Sara who is sitting beside me. holding my hand, she said "Yes," quietly.

"Who? Jess?" I asked while looking at her. She just looks at me with sad eyes; It only confirms my suspicion on Jess. The question is why did she do that? I hate that woman.

"Where is she now?" I asked trying to get up but failed due to the sharp pain.

"In the hospital outside of this room," she answered quietly.
