Matt POV

She thinks that I am not able to handle my own works. I made my biggest mistake which was l telling her that I care about her. After I learned what I figured out, I really can't trust anyone. I just hope she can see what I'm thinking of her. She's a smart woman; she will surely found out the truth.

Flashback Several days ago

I am in my office, mainly playing solitaire. I know how I sound like; I sound like those people who run from there job, but really I'm just a cop who is happy nothing has happened today yet. The phone starts ringing.

"Hello police station," I answer automatically.

"Yes, I need your help," it was Avar's voice, my leader.

"What is it?" I say getting serious. "Is it about the Mafia case?" I asked.

"No, not that. I mean maybe it could be related to that. I'm not sure. I need you to track a number. Someone threaded Max telling him that he needs to be away from me. Well, something like that,"

"What do you mean? Where are you now?" I ask. I know I should be chill by her saying the guy's name. On the other hand, I'm happy that Max is her brother; even though, there's no way Avar is going to be dating me ever. I care about her too much though!

"Hospital," she answers simply. She definitely doesn't see me the way I see her.

"Hospital?" I asked not believing that she's in the hospital! "Are you hurt?" I add.

"Yes," was all I need to hear from her. I hang the phone and put my laptop in the bag and go to the hospital.

Once I get to the hospital. I ask the receptionist for Avar's room which she gave me. I saw Jess, Avar's mom outside of the room sobbing. I didn't ask her anything. I open the door of, Avar room. Once I get in I see Avar on the bed hospital, and a very scared Max sitting beside her. Good! He doesn't need to know that I work for Avar.

"Don't be scared; he has just a very big body! I'm the one that people need to be scared of," Avar informs Max. I just chuckled. She indeed told him the truth.

"May I have your phone boy?" I ask gently as if I'm talking to a very delicate teenager which was Avar's request.

"You know, I am strong, and I am not scared!" he said a bit offended. Awww that's so cute!

"Totally," I said chuckling whilst holding my palm out for him to put his phone on it. Loving the fact that he was a little scared of me.

"I won't break it unless someone orders me," I joke.

Avar scoffs while looking at me. "Which I won't," then she looks at him. "At least give me your phone," she said sternly.

"Yet you speak to him sternly," I said to her half-joking.

"You can't, but I can. He's my brother Matt," she answers simple.

I take my laptop computer out of my bag. I then connect his phone to the laptop.

"What are you doing?" Max asked getting angry.

"Patience," Avar said.

"I am doing what I was ordered to do," I said as I am busy.

Avar finally speaks up. "we are figuring who was on the other line that spoke to you earlier. Don't worry we won't look at the photos or any other things that you have; other than phone numbers on your phone," oh man, I was just having fun trying to mess with his head.

"How? You can easily access to everything my email my...." I interrupted him when I catch the owner of the phone. "you were right ma'am," I said before handing Max his phone," the phone does belong to one of..."

"Ok," Avar stops me from further speaking. "Go ahead and do what I have told you," she ordered. In the beginning, it was hot when Avar ordered me to do things. Now she is always HOT, and beautiful.

"But..." I say thinking maybe it's time Max learns something about himself.

"No buts, I will tell him on our own time and pace," she said.

"Just note that we don't have much time.  He needs to know as soon as possible, and he needs to know that you are protecting him," I tell her before I get up.

"It's not like I have many choices, do I," she says. If I didn't know her any better I would say that she's emotional!

"Ma'am," I call her,

"You know I hate to be called ma'am," she says disgusted,

"There's something else, Jess is outside," I tell her.

"Put her behind the bars for now," she orders simple.

"Why? she's crying and sobbing. I think..."

"For god sake Matt, she's acting. She shot me," she informed.

I look down. Jess is her mom despite all the things she's done. "But she's your mother,"

"I don't have one, now unless you want to get fire get out of here. Oh and take her with you. I don't feel safe," she tells me ordering me yet another thing. Implying if Jess stays there.

After attempting and failing to arrest Jess. I go to the station and research the number up. The fact that the number is from an organization made me stop for the track. This is not possible. Jason is her biological father. I know, I don't ever say this, but I wish Avar just forget about it all. I feel disgusted.

Back to present

"We need to talk," I say to the boss. Her mentor.

"What about?" He asks lost. I mean I don't really go to him directly unless Avar orders me.

"Um, actually, yea it's um,"

"Matt, what's the matter?" He asks this time gentler.

"I think you need to stop Avar from looking any further," I tell him. I know I make no sense. "You like her?" This is not the time, I need to be serious no matter how. "That doesn't matter," I mumble. "It does because if that's true then you can not work with her," wait, what! This is not why I'm here. "I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression." I say "No, I don't like her that way," I lie. "It's just way more complicated now than it was before we knew she was Mafia's daughter," I finish.

"She works with us. She doesn't double-cross us," he said confidently. "yes sir, sorry." I said respectfully before I leave the office. Ok, this didn't work.

Of course, she won't double-cross the police. She's a loyal cop. She's proved herself over the past 7 years. I don't know what I was thinking. My attraction doesn't mean anything. It shouldn't.
