"Come on, you have to. You lost the bet, now you have to do whatever dare we say." Corey and Brennen smirked, waiting for me to accept the dare.  Being in the group of what we're called the popular people, there was the people under the popular people.

Then there were people that were the lowest. One boy took that name, being the absolute loser of the school. He was gay, not trying to hide it or anything, but he got picked on for it. I tried not to, though when Corey and Brennen picked at him I was only around to laugh. His name is Colby Brock.

"Guys, come on. Any other dare." I begged, really not wanting to do it.

"Nope, that's it. You have to befriend Colby Brock, and make him crush on you." Brennen spoke, they giggled like little school boys.

"Fine, I'll do it." I huffed. They whooped loudly and high fives, collecting looks from people around the cafeteria. I looked over and saw Colby sitting by himself in the corner table. "Well go on, Sammy. Talk to your friend." Corey picked at me.

I rolled my eyes, and stood up. I shouldn't be as nervous as I am, but I brushed it off and sat down across from him. He jumped and looked at me, almost terrified.

"Hey." I said confidently, giving him a politely fake smile.

He just looked at me, I guess he was nervous and didn't know what to say. "Why are you alone all the time?" I asked, once again sounding polite.

"I-I-" he gulped. "P-People just d-don't t-talk to me. I-I don't l-like much of the people h-here." I stuttered, obviously really nervous.

"Oh. Well, that makes sense, the people here suck." I looked around, said people were sharing glances and whispers of me talking to the shy boy. The sad thing was that some of them probably didn't even know his name. "I'm Sam."

"C-Colby." He almost whispered. I fiddled with his fingers, probably looking for a distraction from his nervousness.

"I want to be your friend Colby." I bursted. He looked at me like I was crazy, or like I had two heads.

"W-What?" He sounded confused.

"Yeah, I do. You seem interesting." I smiled, his face looking like he didn't know what to believe or not.

"H-How do I b-believe that you're t-telling the truth?" He asked me.

"Don't take too much energy, and just do it. Believe me." He smiled, I already felt bad and I didn't really do much wrong yet. I guess I did though, I accepted the dare, and I made a shy boy have hope at having a friend finally. "What're you doing after school?"

"I-I'm- I-." He stopped and took a breath. "Just going h-home"

"Well, do you want to hang out?" I asked him, every time after speaking, I showed a smile hopefully showing him that he could accept and trust me.

"Wh-Where?"

"How about your place? I mean, if that works for you." I offered.

"Y-Yeah. Okay, sure." I could tell he was trying to hide his excitement. It made my heart feel happy, but just sad at the same time. I'd hurt this hopeful boy someday.

We said our goodbyes, and I walked back to my table where Corey and Brennen sat. "So!?" Corey blurted.

"We're hanging after school." I answered, smiling. I didn't have to smile and look friendly anymore, but I just didn't stop.
