Chapter 6
When I woke up the next morning, I was extremely groggy. I groaned and sat up. I got my phone and checked the time. 11:15. I shot out of bed, and got into the shower. I took a super short shower, well, for me, only ten minutes. I got dressed in jeans and a black t-shirt. I towel-dried my long hair, that reached my waist, and after half an hour, it was dry.
I put on my usual makeup, mascara, light golden eye shadow, and powder. When I went out, I saw it was exactly 11:59. When the clock changed to twelve, I heard a loud pop. I rushed out into the living room to see a man standing there, taking his wand out of his pocket.
"Uhh... Who are you?" I asked the dude.
He stuck out his hand, and with a heavy British accent he said, "I'm Cormac McLaggen. I was sent here to retrieve Eva Night, to take her to Diagon Alley." He looked around me after shaking my hand. "Do you know where she is?"
"Oh! Sorry, I should introduce myself too!" I said to him.
"No- I just need" - I cut him off.
"June Summers," I told him.
"Great, but" - he looked around me again.
"Also known as: Eva Night." I finished.
"Oh..." he paled. "Sorry. Anyways, shall we go?"
"Uh, okay. Let me tell my aunt and uncle first." I ran up the stairs, and told them I was leaving. They hugged me and I want back downstairs, after grabbing my iPod. "Wait, will I need money for stuff?" I asked McLaggen.
"No, you have plenty in your vault at Gringotts." He replied. "Come on now, let's go. I expect you're going to spend allot of time looking at the books and things."
I walked up to him, he grabbed my arm and... "Wait!" I said, right before he apparated.
"What?" He said, like I annoyed him.
"They said you would get rid of the spell that keeps my scar hidden. I want it removed." I told him, and he sighed.
He waved his wand, and my face tingled. I ran to the bathroom, and looked at my face. The scar was not on my forehead, but on my jaw. On my jawline, aligned with my bright blue eye. I admired it for a few minutes, but then walked out, and he apparated out of there.
Diagon Alley was amazing. We apparated right in it, right outside Gringots. "You first." McLaggen gestured to the door and I opened it. I didn't hold it open though, like he expected. It slammed in his face. I held back laughter. When I looked at the inside of Gringots, my jaw fell. I had been many places, and countries. But never, had I seen this much amazing architecture. When I just stood there, he pulled me to the front desk, and pulled out a key.
The goblin took it, and shouted for some other goblin. The goblin showed us to a cart, and we sat in it.
One thing you should know about me, is that I get extremely carsick. I mean, EXTREMLEY carsick. It's horrible; on my five minute car ride to my middle school in the backseat got me a little green. So, you can imagine, on the abnormally large mine cart, going more than a hundred miles an hour, twisting and turning, never stopping, hurtling down the narrow passage, I was actually dry heaving over the side of the cart, having nothing to retch, I had not eaten breakfast. The goblin was yelling that I needed to keep my head, hands, and feet inside the cart. I ignored him.
When the cart came to an abrupt stop, that sent my stomach lurching, and more heaves coming 'round, i jumped out of the cart, and collapsed against a pillar of stone.
When the goblin started to open the vault, I noticed that it was a high security vault. The dragon was cut off the next vault over. I paled. I hadn't expected much from my parents, but they were obviously rich. The vault was larger than my room at home, and all the coins were a mess. They covered the floor, up to mid-calf. Most of the coins were gold, then still plenty silver and bronze.
McLaggen gasped, but I didn't allow him to get even close to the vault. I didn't trust him not to steal some. I pulled out my wallet, but deciding they wouldn't fit in my wallet, because of the lack of paper, I just put bunches in the side zip-up pocket of my purse.
When I finished with that, I noticed something hanging on the back wall of the vault. I wadded through the coins to the back, and looked at the beautiful jewelry that obviously belonged to my mother. I looked at a blue stone flecked with gold, and, comparing it with my knowledge of a stone Lapis Lazuli from Vampire Diaries, decided that was what it was. It was beautiful though. Carved in amazing swirls, and very gothic looking, but not at the same time, I loved it.
"You can take it, you know. It's yours now." The goblin said, and then told me to get moving.
I decided he was right, and put it around my neck. I would never take it off.
I finished up in there, and we left the vault. By the time we made it back up above ground, I was a horrible shade of green. I ran outside, and took deep, steading breaths.
"Hey... are you okay?" Someone asked right in front of me. I had my head down, so he hadn't seen my face yet, but I felt almost fine now. I probably wasn't green anymore. I looked up.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just motion sick." I told the girl standing there. She looked about my age, had a mass of freckles, and bright red hair.
"Oh, that's good." She said. "Hey... oh, my god! You're Eva Night!" She said, thankfully not very loud, when her eyes fell upon my scar.
"Yeah." I told the girl, right when who I assumed her family came walking up after her. "And you are?" I asked her, smiling.
"Rose Weasley." She stuck out her hand, and I shook it.
"I see you have made a friend, Rose." Her father said.
My mouth was just hanging open. "The Weasley's?" I asked, stunned.
"Yeah, but were nothing. Just some family barely scraping by... when you're Eva Night!" Rose was obviously excited about meeting me.
"But... wow! I never thought this would happen to me. Yesterday, I didn't know about any of this. Of course, I had read the Harry Potter books, but I didn't even know I had a scar I my jaw. Now I'm meeting the all-famous Weasleys!"
They all looked stunned. "Why would we be amazing? Sure, Ron and I were friends with Harry Potter himself, but that nothing!" Rose's mother, Hermione, said.
"Are you kidding me? Without you guys, Voldemort would have taken over, and killed most of the world by now. I wouldn't be Eva Night without you." I said to them, and they looked stunned that I thought of it that way.
"Eva! What the... why did you leave like that? Oh... hi, Weasleys." He said with disgust.
"McLaggen." Ron said.
"We are going," McLaggen grabbed my arm, and tried to tow me away. I wouldn't let him. Man, he was weak.
"Man! Your weak." I told him, and peeled his hands off my arm. "And I'll leave when I want to."
I said goodbye, and was just about to leave when Roses little brother, Hugo , asked me why I had an American accent. "I live in America. But I will be going to Hogwarts." I added when I saw Rose's smile falter.
She smiled again, and I took off, getting the list of supplies out of my purse, with McLaggen in tow.
