Chapter 4
* Third person pov *
Shaking woke Shame up, she opened her eyes to a blond haired little girl smiling. She sat up with her legs hanging off the bed as the girl bounced up and down, her golden ringlets curling.
" Are you Mercy? I'm Kina, would you play with me, everyone else is sleeping, pleeeease?" Kina asked hyper.
" If you would like me to of course I will play with you Kina." Shame responded. Kina gasped and jumped into Shame's arms when she stood up.
" We can go out back and play on the swings." She said cheerfully. Shame carried her down the stairs and quietly took her out back as she pointed the way.
Once there she let Kina down and the little girl and to the swings. From behind Shame pushed her, Kina was excited to be going so fast and high.
" How old are you Kina?" Shame asked taking notice to how small the girl was.
" I....um....am nine. But I am really small so you're going to laugh aren't you?" She replied sadly.
" No Kina. I will not laugh, there is nothing wrong with being small. So what do you guys do around here?" Shame said to her. Kina's face brightened and she giggled.
" Mel, Miyake, Ash, and I like to play pranks on Rory. He's a very funny person." Kina laughed. Shame smiled at how happy the little girl was.
In Shame's mind everyone deserved a childhood, she never got one so seeing others have a good one made up for her missing it. After a while Kina insisted that Shame had to swing on the one next to her so Shame stopped pushing her swing and sat on the other one. A few seconds later she slowly started hers, Shame had never been on a swing. When she was little she wasn't aloud to, it was for good children. Shame stopped swinging as she remembered the first time she tried one.
* Flash Back eight years ago *
Seven year old Shame stood waiting by the school gates for her grandfather, he was an hour late. Shame saw a group of children playing on the playground, seeing that she was looking one of the girls walked over and asked her to play. Shame smiled and followed her and she sat on the swing. Before it could take off her grandfather stormed over and pulled her off. He tugged her to the gates and smacked her hard in the face.
" What were you doing you stupid girl?" He demanded.
" I was playing with the others grandpa." She replied timidly.
" Alpha to you, and playing is for those who have been good. You.... You are not good enough to play with other people." He barked at her. She held her tongue and nodded biting back tears as she followed him home. The skies poured down rain as they seemed to cry for her.
* End of flashback *
Shame quickly got off the swing and smiled at Kina. Rory cleared his throat and they looked at him.
" What's wrong uh Khaleesi, why are you shaking?" He asked her forgetting her name. She hadn't realized she was shaking. She stopped and shook her head.
" Nothing, my name is Shame. I am not Khaleesi, it is a title." Shame responded.
" Your Blood Scar's Khaleesi? Wow no wonder, you are so pretty Mercy. Hey Rory would you like to play with us?" Kina asked as she continued to swing.
" Thanks Kina. But I need to go change so I am afraid Rory will have to play with you by himself." Shame said just above a whisper she did not think she was pretty. She quickly made her way back to her room and closed the door behind her.
Shame felt ill and the pain was becoming unbearable. She slowly changed into a pair of baggy pants and a black t-shirt. As she sat on her bed slowly she was consumed by darkness.
~~ Lunch time ~~
" Mercy are you awake, it is lunch time.....I'm coming in." Mel said in a normal voice.
" I am not hungry, is there anything you need me to do?" Shame said rubbing her eyes and sitting up waiting for a chore to do or a command.
" Uh no, why don't you get more sleep. Someone will wake you in the moring for school." Mel said smiling at her. Shame looked really tired and in no state to be up.
" Is that a command ma'am?" Shame asked innocently.
" What?" Mel looked at her in surprise.
" Are you commanding me to sleep, is it what you wish for me to do?" Shame said back like she had been taught.
" Sure, I want you to get some sleep. Good night Mercy." Mel said almost crying. What kind of house was the girl raised in, Mel wondered. Shame nodded and layed back down closing her eyes.
Mel walked out and closed the door. She made her way down the stairs and when she saw her laughing family playing in the living room she broke down in tears. Leon ran over and wrapped his arms around her as he guided her to the couch.
" What is wrong Mama?" Ahshi asked, the six year old walked over to her mother and climbed in her lap.
" Oh Ahshi! Leon I have never seen such a......oh bless her soul. The girl doesn't seem to know what to do with out someone ordering her to do so. What kind of people raised her?" Mel cried, the entire pack looked down.
" She seemed scared when she was playing with Kina, like doing so would get her in trouble." Rory added as he leaned along a wall.
" How did her wrists look last night Mel?" Layac asked her.
" I don't know why you wanted me too look at them, there wasn't anything there." Mel said trying to clam down.
" Impossible, grandpa and I saw Giaan beat her wrists. They started bleeding Mum." Rory told them. Everyone gasped when he said beating.
" What kind of house was she raised in indeed. For now, let her rest." Layac said his eyes turned dark as he thought of the house Blood Scar.
