"The Day That Was"
Wednesday, 8:15 am
(...again)
"Hold the phone." Klaus said, leaning against the bar. "We all died fighting this thing the first time around. Remember?"
Eleanor nodded, her hands nursing her hot chocolate as she leant on the counter top.
"Klaus, shockingly, has a point." Diego spoke up, agreeing. "What gives us a win this time?"
Before Luther could answer, electricity began to crackle and a blue light began to pulsate just above the bar. Suddenly, Five appeared from out of the blue light, landing with a 'thump' on the counter. Eleanor jumped backwards, her hot drink spilling everywhere.
"Holy shit!" She yelled, falling off the bar stool and onto the floor.
"You guys, am I still high, or do you see him, too?" Klaus asked, knowing sitting on one of the fancy sofas.
Eleanor didn't move from the floor. She just stared at her brother as he climbed off the top of the bar. He was covered in dirt, and she couldn't help but wonder, what the hell had happened to him?
"Were you in some sort of explosion, or something?" She asked, looking up at him, blinking her eyes furiously.
"Five, where have you been?" Luther asked as he and Allison stepped forward to help him.
"Are you all right?" Allison asked him, putting a hand on his arm.
"Who did this?"
"Irrelevant." Five answered, taking Allison's coffee from her.
Klaus stood up and helped Eleanor up before they crowded around their brother. Eleanor scoffed. "Irrelevant? Seriously?"
They watched silently as Five moved away from them and began to down the stolen coffee.
"So, the apocalypse is in three days." He turned back around to face his siblings. "The only chance we have to save our world is, well, us."
"Oh, don't look so doubtful." Eleanor teased, folding her arms over her chest. "I'm sure we'll manage."
"The Umbrella Academy." Luther said.
"Yeah, but with me, obviously." Five told them. "So if y'all don't get your sideshow acts together and get over yourselves, we're screwed. Who cares if Dad messed us up? Are we gonna let that define us? No. And to give us a fighting chance to see next week, I've come back with a lead." He held up a piece of paper. "I know who's responsible for the apocalypse."
"So, who is it?" Eleanor asked as Allison took the paper from Five. She peered over her sister's shoulder.
"Harold Jenkins?" Allison questioned.
"Who the hell is Harold Jenkins?" Diego asked. They all stared at Five, who had begun to drink the left over coffee.
Five finished with the coffee and chucked the disposable cup over his shoulder. "I don't know... yet."
"You don't know?!" Eleanor repeated, raising an eyebrow at him.
"But I do know that he's responsible for the apocalypse. So we have to find him. And we have to do it now."
"How is he connected to what's gonna happen?" Luther asked, voicing what they were all thinking.
"I don't know."
"So, let me get this right, you only know his name?" Eleanor asked, rolling her eyes. "Just his name, and nothing else?"
"That's enough." Five defended.
