"Right Back Where We Started"
Five landed in the same alleyway that his siblings had between the years 1960 and 1963, except that this time there seemed to be explosions coming from the main street. He pushed himself up from the ground and looked up to the blue portal he had fallen through. "Luther!" He called. "Diego! Eleanor!" Gunshots could be heard in the distance and Five curiously made his way towards them to investigate.
The date, although currently irrelevant, was November 25th 1963.
In the middle of the road, where normally cars would be seen driving, was a tank. Alongside it were soldiers, Five could tell they were Russian from the language they were yelling as they ran towards their opponent- the American army.
Five ran forward to a crumpled newspaper, sitting atop a pile of rubble. " 'Soviets attack US?' " He muttered, reading the headline out loud. "This can't be right." He stood up and walked further forward. He passed an American soldier comforting a badly injured civilian. More soldiers were yelling as they fired their guns at the opposition. "What the hell did we do now?" Five muttered.
From next to him, the tank was set off and a large bullet flew in the direction of the American soldiers. Hovering a few metres above the ground, Vanya threw her hands forward and the bullet exploded in mid-air. On the ground, Klaus raised his hands and sent the ghosts of fallen soldiers upon the Russians. Next to him, stood Eleanor- although she looked quite a bit older now- using her powers to create more versions of herself. At the same time, she conjured up guns, one for herself and for her clones, and sent bullets raining down upon the enemy soldiers. A group of soldiers, unseen by either Klaus or Eleanor, set aim upon the pair. Luther bounded over to them and used his back as a shield for his siblings. Eleanor smiled in thanks before leaning round her older brother and firing her bullets on them.
Up on a roof nearby, stood Ben- albeit he was still dead, but he was using his tentacles to fling the enemies through the air. A body landed at the feet of three soldiers, who were then stopped by Allison.
"Hey!" She called out to them, raising her hands slightly. "I heard a rumour that I blew your minds." Her voice echoed and just as the men's eyes had glazed over, their heads exploded.
Eleanor, who was watching her older sister, let out a short laugh. "Nice one, Ally!" She yelled, before taking out another couple of soldiers.
Stood on an up-turned police car, not far from his sister, was Diego. As a group of Russian soldiers ran towards him and begun firing, he jumped and flipped through the air. He threw his knives and, just as he landed, they hit their targets. It was Diego who first spotted the smallest of their siblings. "Five!" He yelled over to his brother. "You sick son of a bitch, where the hell have you been?"
Five tried running towards his family, but was stopped by a hand placing itself on his shoulder. He looked up to see a familiar figure- although quite a bit older- wearing a blue suit. It was Hazel, the ex-assassin who had previously been trying to kill him.
"If you wanna live, come with me."
"Hazel." Five breathed. "What the hell's going on here?"
"There's no time to explain." He pointed to somewhere in the distance. "Those are nukes, old-timer." Missiles flew overhead.
"What about my family?" Five asked, worried for his siblings.
"You can't save 'em if you're dead."
Five took Hazel's hand and the pair vanished in a cloud of blue, just as the missiles landed and set off a giant explosion which wiped out all of humanity for a second time.
