"The White Violin"

Too busy being caught up in her own thoughts, Eleanor didn't notice how the whole house had started violently shaking. Unlike her siblings who had realised and were now gathering in one of the upstairs hallways.

"Yo, what the hell is going on?" Diego asked.

"Are those explosions coming f-" Klaus started to ask.

"Vanya." Pogo stated, answering the siblings' questions. "We need to get to safety outside the Academy."

Klaus and Diego started to head down the hallway as Luther called out to them. "Don't forget Mom! And find Eleanor!" Despite how he acted towards her, he actually cared for his youngest sister quite a lot.

Eleanor let out a scream as she felt the floor cracking underneath her. Looking up, she saw the roof falling apart and was lucky enough to move out of the way before it collapsed on her. She hurriedly gathered up the photograph and the couple of letters she had found before running for the stairs.

Except that they weren't there. She was trapped in the attic. How the hell was she meant to get out?

Suddenly the shaking stopped, but not before a large piece of the roof fell at her feet and sent her flying into the window.

The window, she could climb out the window. Couldn't she? She pulled herself up off the floor and brushed the dust from her clothes. Slowly, she leaned forward, pushing the pane of glass up. It was definitely too high to jump. She could climb down the drainpipe, but the one that was closest to her looked as if it would fall to pieces if she tried. There was also the issue of her arm- being that it was broken and currently out of service.

Suddenly Eleanor found herself being thrown through the window, landing harshly on the small balcony, as the house began to shake once more. She let out a scream as she felt herself land on her broken arm.

Through the ringing of her ears, she heard two male voices yelling her name. Klaus and Diego were calling for her. She pulled herself to the edge of the balcony and called out to them. "I'm up here!"

"Jump! We'll catch you!" Diego yelled to her. Not seeing any other choice, she nodded and pulled herself into a standing position. She took a few steps back before running to the edge. Her feet lifted off the concrete just as the building collapsed into rubble. She flew through the air and was lucky enough to be caught by her brothers.

"You alright?" Klaus asked her as Diego set her back on her feet.

Eleanor shrugged. "I'll live, I guess."

The two of them followed Diego as he started searching through the rubble of their house, calling out for their Mom.

"Klaus, come here. Help me search." Eleanor and Klaus shared a concerned look, the former wiping away the tears that had begun to form in her eyes. She didn't need anyone to say it out loud for her to know what had happened. Their mom hadn't made it out in time. She was gone.

"Diego." Klaus said softly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Just stop it. Stop."

"No," Diego pushed him away, "what- What are you- Let me go. What are you doing?"

"Stop." Klaus repeated gently. "Stop. She's gone. She's... She's gone, okay? She's..."

"What do you wanna do?" Diego asked, his stutter returning. "You wanna- wanna... walk away from this?"

Eleanor, fresh tears now rolling down her face, walked towards her brothers and wrapped her arms around Diego and began to cry into his chest. "There's nothing we can do, Diego." She cried.
