"I thought you might want an apple, it's from my family's orchard."
"Has that line ever worked for you?"

Chapter 5
"I got mine three months ago and I feel extremely mature." Ophelia couldn't help but let a small laugh slip through her smile as the girls all voiced their agreement. "I think the boys take me more seriously too."
Ophelia wiggled her eyebrows suggestively and oohed at Josie Pye. The girls returned to feverish giggling and Tillie even let out a small snort.
When Ruby had finished laughing, and had returned her breathing to somewhat normal she gasped out, "Please never do that again." Which set the girls into another round of laughter.
Anne, however, wasn't laughing with the rest of the girls. She looked far more concerned about something else. Her forehead creased as she looked around the circle of girls. "But they can't tell. Can they tell? Oh that would be awful."
The girls shook their head, quickly trying to ease Anne's worries. "Not tell, per se, but I'm not a little girl anymore and I believe that's noticeable." Josie's words did very little to ease Anne's troubled mind, it obviously wasn't what she had wanted to hear. Josie glanced around the circle before saying "My bosoms are growing."
Ophelia and Ruby couldn't help but let out a string of childish giggles while Josie glared at them. Their laughter, however, set Tillie into giggles no matter how hard she tried to conceal them.
"Yet another reason why this is inexplicable."
Diana flashed a smile to the other girls in the circle, "I got mine last year."
Ophelia was surprised, she didn't realize Diana had gotten hers when she was so young. Tillie piped up, "I did too."
Ruby seemed to be the one to voice all of their thoughts with a quiet "Really?"
"My father has started opening the door for me. It's sweet." Diana smiled down at her hands, obviously remembering the first time he had done it.
Josie looked around at all the girls. "I can't wait until I can wear my hair up." The girls began to nod in agreement, including Ophelia. "Before you wear your hair up, you might want to try curling it. Put some effort into it at least."
Ophelia's mouth dropped open, but her reply was interrupted by Ruby's sniffling. "Ruby what's wrong?"
Ophelia gingerly patted her back as she tried to help the girl calm down, all while shooting a glare towards Josie as if it was somehow her fault. "I'm not a woman. Why don't I have it?"
The girls started to reassure her, telling her it would come soon. Anne even offered to give Ruby hers if it was possible. Ophelia wrapped her arm around her and pulled the small girl into her side. "It's alright Ruby, I've not gotten mine either."
