Hannah's POV
"Hannah, what do you think you're doing?" Alex asked his sister as he saw her carrying boxes from her apartment. She didn't even glance at him or acknowledge that he was there, just continued towards her rented U-Haul. "Hannah you can't ignore me too. Andy called me and told me you handed in your notice at the station, she's really worried about you."
"Yeah? She didn't seem that worried about me when she was lying straight to my face" She replied as she walked back towards her apartment for more boxes. "Are you here to try talk me out of leaving? Because I'm leaving Alex, there's nothing you can say right now that could stop me"
Alex just rolled his eyes at that statement and shoved his hands in his jacket pockets. "Oh, I don't know? The only family member that even bothers to talk to me in Seattle is leaving and she thinks I'm not gonna try my damn best to talk her into staying!" he exclaimed as he followed her towards the elevator.
"You won't be alone Alex - you have Jo, Meredith, and everyone at Grey Sloan. Plus I'll only be a short flight away!" she told him as she pressed the button for the fourth floor and watched the doors close. "Chicago is a nice city Al! You can come and visit me whenever you want, I'll find a nice place that has a second bedroom just for you". They exited the elevator and made the short journey to her place. He closed the door to her apartment after they had both entered and stood in front of it so that it was unopenable. They stared at each other as she picked up one of the few boxes left.
"Hannah I don't care how nice Chicago is when my sister won't be a ten-minute drive from my house or work so close to me that we see each other almost daily. How am I meant to be okay with not being able to come over and have dinner with you? Not being able to go for drinks with you? Not being able to vent to you when Jo pisses me off?!". He was getting upset now. Alex walked over to Hannah, removed the box from her hands and placed it back on the ground before he placed his hands on his sister's shoulders. "Chicago is not Seattle and Seattle is not Seattle without you" he told her sincerely as he moved his hands from her shoulders to cradle her face.
She looked down at her feet as she started to feel overwhelmed, "Alex I just can't stay in this city any longer. I can't see them every day, at least not now. Who knows maybe one day I'll be back causing more chaos" she looked back up at him "and if you love me as much as you're saying you'd help me get out of here for a while."
He sighed and let her go. He didn't want to see his only sister hurt this much, it pained him just to see that amount sadness in her eyes. "I don't want you to go, but that's me being selfish because I love you, and you're right... I love you so much that I want you to be happy, and if you can't be happy here then I have to let you go so you can be happy elsewhere." He said as he moved past her and picked up one of the heavier looking boxes.
"We can skype those dinner and drinks nights" Hannah said in an effort to lighten the mood, "and there's facetime! You'll be sick of me calling and texting you". She followed his lead and lifted a box from the floor and followed him back down to her complex's carpark.
"Shut up before I change my mind and lock you in the on-call room in Grey Sloan" He joked.
