2008
Hannah found herself wandering through the halls of Seattle Grace Hospital, she had managed to find her way to the hospital from the airport, her social care worker couldn't tell her much about her brother Alex's whereabouts mainly because she couldn't find an address for the man but she could tell her where he worked. So when she had aged out at 16 she used whatever money she had to buy a plane ticket from Iowa to Seattle to reunite with the only family member who ever gave a real crap about her. Wheeling her suitcase behind her she approached two women dressed in scrubs at a nurses station.
"Excuse me" Hannah began and the two women looked over to her, the shorter blonde had a bitchy look on her face "I'm sorry to interrupt but do either of you know where I might be able to find Doctor Alex Karev?" the two women shared a look.
"Are you a patient of his?" the taller asked as her beady eyes inspected the young blonde "Because patients are meant to wait in the waiting area to be admitted"
"Oh no, I'm not a patient" Hannah reassured her.
"Then I'm sure he can find you when his shift is over, but at the moment we're all working and you're actually blocking us from working right now, people could die because we were here talking to you instead of checking on patients-" the shorter one bellowed to Hannah whose eyebrows raised.
"Forget it" Hannah interrupted and walked away, pulling her suitcase behind her as she searched the corridors for Alex, she wasn't even sure what he looked like as she hadn't seen him in such a long time. Her stomach rumbled reminding her that she hadn't eaten since before her flight that morning so she looked at the signs that pointed towards the cafeteria. Hospital food was so bland, Hannah forgot how bland the food actually was but she would eat anything at this point.
After stomaching that god awful food Hannah was back to wandering the hallways. Everybody seemed to be quite busy and not willing to help the young girl, which was weird considering she was in a hospital. She wasn't paying much attention to the people who appeared to be in a rush. Hannah stopped walking and moved to take her backpack off her back when someone fell on top of her.
"Oh my God!" Hannah screamed as she face-planted the floor. She heard a feminine voice continuously apologize as she pushed herself up and noticed a small pool of blood where she landed, she moved her hand up to her nose and when she pulled it away there were droplets of blood covering her fingers.
"I'm so sorry! I was reading these charts and walking at the same time so I wasn't really anticipating you stopping and I definitely wasn't anticipating falling over your luggage!" the mousy brunette babbled as Hannah held her head back to try to stop the bleeding "Oh my God you're bleeding! I'm so so sorry!"
Hannah stared at the ceiling "It's okay but is there any chance I could get some tissues? I don't want to ruin this shirt".
"Sure!" the girl exclaimed and must have rushed off to a supply room or something but returned rather quickly "Here I got you some tissues, some sterile wipes and I even found some of those nose plugs for bleeds!" the brunette listed as she moved Hannah to the nearby hospital bed so that she could clean the girl's wounds.
