Hannah had arrived early on her first day and decided that she'd make everybody breakfast in efforts to make more friends. She had just finished loading the food into the self-serve trays when Stella arrived.

"Morning Stella! Breakfast is ready and I'm just about to make a fresh batch of coffee if you want any?" she beamed at her new friend who just grunted in return and mentioned something about needing a shower.

Pretty soon the common area was full of firefighters grabbing something to eat before they started and before they went home. Everyone seemed appreciative of her efforts, especially Christopher Hermann who made sure to tell her that she'd probably made the best scrambled egg he's ever had in the firehouse.

Her and Sylvie had just finished cleaning up when there was a call put through.

"Squad 3, Truck 81, Ambulance 61, Engine 51. School fire, 4538 West Quincy."

"That's Donna's school" Boden said as they all rushed to the apparatus floor and into their gear and trucks.

"Who's Donna?" she asked Sylvie just before she got in her Ambo.

"Chief's wife"

"Karev!" Cruz said as Tony started the engine "You ready for your first call at 51" he joked as she sat between him and Tony.

"You guys have no idea how good it feels to be back inside a truck" she exclaimed with a big smile on her face. Her leg was beginning to bounce with anticipation as they neared closer and closer to the school.

"I'll cover the chief." Kelly said as he turned in his seat so that everyone could see him "Karev you're gonna stick with me. That means I want the three of you on a controlled sweep of wherever the fire's the hottest. These kids are gonna be panicked, so point them toward the exits. Make sure you don't stop them except for anyone down." he ordered his crew.

"You got it, Lieutenant. Hit the ground running, boys. Here we go" said Tony from behind the wheel as he parked the truck and they all started pilling out. There was a member of staff directing the children into lines as they all masked up and awaited orders from the Chief.

"Get two hose lines in there" he said into his walkie for the team to hear "Truck, Squad,
search and evacuate. Let's go!" He said and the team started making their way inside with Hannah making sure to stick close to Kelly. The halls were smoky and full of teenagers rushing towards the exit coughing.

There was a girl rolling around with her legs covered in flames.

"Hey, I got it, Chief" Severide told Boden who was about to go help the girl. "Karev! With me" The two firefighters worked to quickly put the fire out and Hannah noticed a boy crouched in close them who looked petrified.

"Hey!" she shouted at him "Move, move! You have to get out of here now!" she told him as she let Kelly know she'd be okay to take the girl outside and follow him back in. "Kid!" she screamed at him as he still hadn't moved "With me! Now! Before I have drag your ass out like this girl in a few minutes!" that made him move as he quickly followed her through the hallway. After she got outside she passed the girl over to the medics and watched as the boy made his way over to his classmates. She heard a bang and quickly made her way back into the building, finding her lieutenant and patting him on the shoulder to let him know she was back.

"Come on Karev we have to go find Casey" he informed her as they made their way through the hallway and into a classroom where they found the Truck Lieutenant and a victim. "Casey, come on! We gotta move!" he shouted.

"Give me a hand!" Casey pleaded as he tried to lift the woman and Kelly quickly made his way over to help attach the rope "Okay. Let's go" the group started to crawl out of the fire engulfed classroom until they reached an area safe enough to lift the woman up and leave the building.

Hannah ran ahead of the two and called for the paramedics "Dawson! Brett!" the two started wheeling the bed over as Hannah made her way over to her team and watched them try to intubate the woman. She let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding when they announced they were successful.
