Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you

Oh god Jonah, Jonah sobbed as he wrote those lyrics. It hurt his heart deeply.

Jonah knew he hurt Corbyn. Past the point of forgiveness. But he wanted Corbyn back. He wanted Corbyn back in his arms.

The day Jonah broke it off with Corbyn, he could never forgive himself for how bad he hurt Corbyn.

"Jonah! What's going on?!" Corbyn yelled at Jonah as Jonah grabbed his car keys.

"What do you mean?" Jonah asked Corbyn.

"You keep running away from me every time I want to talk to you. What's going on?" Corbyn asked Jonah, genuinely concerned for his boyfriend.

"Nothing Corbyn, I just want some air," Jonah dismissed Corbyn.

"Jonah Marais, stop running away from me," Corbyn said with anger raising in his voice.

"I'm not! I just need a break," Jonah mumbled angrily.

"A break? From what?" Corbyn said as he looked at Jonah in confusion.

"From you Corbyn! We are always together! I need to be my own person without you bombarding me all the damn time," Jonah exploded, making up an excuse to cover up the real reason.

"Jonah I didn't mean-" Corbyn wasn't able to finish his sentence due to Jonah cutting him off.

"It's hard Corbyn! I just can't put up with it anymore. It's like if I'm not around, you fall apart. It's exhausting having to keep you happy while keeping myself happy." Jonah sighed.

"My mental health is at stake here. You're extremely clingy Corbyn. I just can't anymore, I'm sorry," Jonah said as he frowned.

"Go," Corbyn said, the only word he could make out.

"What?" Jonah asked him in belief.

"I'm not gonna hold you down anymore. Please just go. I need you to be okay first. I'm sorry for everything." Corbyn whispered as he looked down at his shoes, tears running down his cheeks.

"Corbyn I-," jonah began but was cut off by Corbyn.

"No Jonah, put yourself first," Corbyn whispered.

"Hopefully one day we'll be okay to continue again," Corbyn whispered as Jonah nodded his head softly.

"Goodbye Bean," Jonah whispered with tears in his eyes.

"Goodbye Jo," Corbyn said as his voice broke.

And with that, Jonah walked out. And maybe, maybe, if it was that easy for both of them to let go, maybe it just wasn't for them to be together. Because how could you not put up a fight for the person you truly love?

A loud sob escaped Jonah's pink lips as he thought of the faint memory. He had lied about the reason why he broke it off with Corbyn. Jonah couldn't tell Corbyn the truth. Only because he didn't want to admit it to himself.

Little did he know that Corbyn only let go easily because he believed Jonah and he wasn't going to be the one who destroyed Jonah's mental health. Corbyn knew Jonah's past and he was not about to let Jonah go down that path again.

After all, if you truly loved someone let them go, if they come back, y'all were meant to be, and if they don't, the stars weren't align for y'all.
