Patapon: The Return of the Hero

Chapter 11: Renki's Past

~At the Barracks~
"OW! That hurts!", Ton yelled while Princess is patching up his wounds. "Don't move! It will hurt more if do.", Princess replied while bandaging Ton's wound on his back.

".......", Chin stayed silent the whole time.

"Is something wrong, Chin?",  Kan asked him while she is healing his wounds. "Yeah....", he replied weakly. "Is it about THAT 'Patapon'?", she asked once more. "Yeah.....", he replied again. "Well, a certain someone will have to explain themselves.", Princess jokingly said. They all looked Renki who was sitting besides the window while looking outside.

"...What?", he asked confusingly. "You have to explain who was that 'Patapon'. I think it had something to do about you.", Kan told him. "Heh, you're quiet perceptive, aren't you?", he sneered while coming down from the window sill and walking towards the bed. "That 'Patapon' before, who was she?", Princess asked.

"That was Aliza, the other half of Hero's soul.", Renki replied. "The other half?", Chin confusingly asked. "Yep. Other half.", he repeated. "W-wait a minute! You mean, Hero had a another half!?", Ton asked with a surprised expression. "Yep. But unlike me, that monster doesn't share the memories of Hero. She's like a walking abomination.", Renki said while describing her characteristic. "Why a walking abomination?", Chin asked. "Because that girl doesn't know any sympathy and doesn't hold back when dealing chaos and havoc.", Renki replied with seriousness in his voice.

"Hey, um.. This has been bugging me a lot actually...", Kan said while fidgeting. "Hm? What's wrong Kan?", Ton asked her. "Um, Renki? Your scar in your eye.... Does it have anything to do with Aliza?", she asked meekly. "Yeah, why did you ask?" he asked confusingly. "Because you never talk about what happened when you woke up on Earthend.", she replied. "Oh yeah! You never DID talk about what happened after you wake up.", Princess said in realization.

".....Well... I guess... I can tell you....", Renki replied while looking down to the floor.He then sit up straight and then he tells his story.

Flashback

Renki's POV
I suddenly woke up in a strange place. It looks like a forest. The atmosphere here looks nice and quiet. I saw many many animals and flowers surrounding me. I tried to stand up but as soon as I stood up, I suddenly fell down. It looks like I need I to practice how to stand up and walk properly.

Pause Flashback

Normal POV
"Wait, so you don't know how to stand up and walk before?!", Ton confusingly asked. "What can you expect? I was reborn as a new Patapon. Besides I'm a fast learner.", Renki replied confidently.

Resume Flashback

Renki's POV

I'm able to live properly and hunt animals in this place. Though I wonder sometimes, why do I feel like I'm forgetting important? I tried to remember what am I forgetting but I can't recall anything.

1 week later.....

My experience in hunting is now quite superb. I'm experienced also in basic magic and I can use my fox ears when I feel like I'm in danger. Though again I wonder, why do I strangely know all of this things? I was only brought to this world a week ago and I already know about my abilities.

Suddenly, I heard a loud noise besides the river where I used it as a bath and also where I wash my wounds. I quickly went over where the noise was and I suddenly saw a figure, which from my knowledge is known as a Patapon, lying down. It stood up. It has a pair of horns that is sticking out on it's head. Then the figure opened it's eye. It looked at me and then they smiled.

"Hi. My name is Aliza. And you must be Renki!", the Patapon spoke in a sweet tone. "Renki?", I asked her. "Huh? You don't know your name? Man, Hero must be feeling sorry right to see that his new reborn self doesn't remember who he was!", Aliza said while laughing. "Why are you here?", I asked cautiously. "Hm? Isn't that obvious? I'm here to defeat you before you meet the Patapons. To be precise, I'm goin' kill you here.", she said while smiling a devilish smirk.

'What? She......wants...to kill....me?', I thought to myself. "Why?", I asked her. "Because, that's the reason I was born. The Archfiends resurrected me in order for this  world to be plunged into the darkness.", she replied. I was speechless. I don't know what is she talking about or about the 'Archfiends'.

Suddenly, I felt a headache. My mind is suddenly being filled with memories. Memories of the past of Hero. From the downfall of the Patapons because of Ormen Karmen doing to his sacrifice in order for the Patapons to be free from the stone curse. I remember now. Who I once was. But I am no longer Hero but his Relic of his soul. Unfortunately, I don't remember why am I here. What is the purpose of my existence? Why was I reborn?

While I was conveying and gathering my thoughts, I didn't realize Aliza was already readying her weapon. It was a spear. She is already in a stance. And then she leapt to the air and suddenly slashed my eye. I managed to dodged it but I was still hit by the spear.

I screamed in pain as I put both of my hands in my face. "Pftt, hahaha! Pathetic! And this is the destined one that was supposedly going to defeat me?", she insulted while I was crawling away, blinded. I was crying. Not because of the pain but humiliation. I was supposedly strong around here. But I was defeated by this Patapon.

Then I heard a bark. I saw my beloved dog, that I tamed 4 days ago, is standing in front of me, protecting me.
"No Mr. Roger! Please get out of here! I don't want you to get hurt!", I said to him while crying.

"Oh, so this dog's name is Mr. Roger? Hmmm... To see a Relic already a bond with a another being. That's nice actually!", Aliza said sarcastically. " But you only know joy. Do you want to feel despair?", she asked before smiling. It was an evil smile. "No-!", I said while I tried to get up. But it was too late.

Aliza is already behind me, holding the body of my beloved dog before dropping it. He was dripping something. It was blood. He isn't breathing. He's just laying there. Then I realized it. He was..... he was.......

DEAD.....

"Hahahahaha!!!", Aliza laughed non-stop as she saw my shocked and realized face. "You are really pathetic! Why are you lamenting over a stupid dog?!"

What did she just said? Did she just called Mr. Roger a stupid dog?

Unforgivable. I won't forgive you....!

"I won't forgive you...", I muttered while I stood up. "Huh?" Aliza stopped laughing and looked at me.

"I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!!!!!"

End of Flashback

Normal POV

The room was quiet. Nobody said a word. "What happened next?", Chin cautiously asked. "I don't remember it quiet well. All I saw was a fog. Then, after I have calmed down, that was when I only realized what I just did.", Renki quietly replied. "You went berserk?", Kan asked him. He nodded.

"You now know how cruel that girl is.", he told them. "Wait. Renki, you said that in order to resurrect Hero, we need to make you remember your memories. But, you said you already remembered everything.", Ton confusingly asked Renki. "That's right. I already remembered everything. But-", Renki said before he was cut off by Princess.

"Guys, I have to tell you something. Call Silver Hoshipon, Meden and Hatapon.", she ordered them. "Got it.", Kan replied. Renki was confused about what was going on.

"Let's have a little meeting, shall we?", Princess said to Renki while smiling

A/N: Sorry for the wait! I really tried my best to make a backstory about what happened to Renki after he woke up.
