They're all foxes, well except for the weasel but heck who knew that they existed. My wolf laughed so hard she fell over, she loved that I was shocked. I was then she let me in on her secret she could scent what a shifter was. I was so mad at her, that didn't let her eat, she ran and hunted but when it came time to eat I headed home. As we shifted she rubbed our link and apologized, she had not realized that I truly didn't know. She had thought that I was playing mad, we really needed to have a long talk. How could I not know something that huge?
Breakfast was quick, I needed to get over and see the fox shifters. The males had taken one cabin and the females another nearby. There were too many for the small cabins to be comfortable but it was their choice. "Ya'll awake?" I holler as I neared the cabins. There was no movement, taking a minute to sniff I asked my wolf, "What do you think"?
Her response had me calling for backup, "Nonpack is here and I smell blood".
"Break into 4 groups. I want this place surrounded. No one gets in or out until I say. Wait for the signal", my circle hated for me to lead.
"Nyx you were supposed to join me for breakfast", I say nearing the female's cabin. "What happened we run you", the door flew open and a male jumped out at me.
The fight was too short to really call it a fight, he jumped. I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him to the ground. Nyx came out screaming, "Alpha please don't kill my mate!"
For the love of the Goddess, why don't they just link me with this information? "Nyx how many females found their mates last night?" Standing, I put my hand out and helped her mate to his feet. She rushes out, jumping into his arms. How did I not notice how tall he was?
"All six of us and four of the males." She is cuddling with him and ... purring.
"Why did no one alert the circle? All of this could have been avoided."
"Sorry Alpha. We just." She giggles and blushes.
Finally, the male speaks, "Alpha could we do this tomorrow? All of us really need to be with our mates." He is already sliding back towards the cabin.
"Tomorrow breakfast in the packhouse. Nyx you are responsible for making sure everyone is there." I tell her.
"Yes Alpha", the door shuts on her words.
"I need a bath", I tell Niall, and Tim as the warriors drift away.
Their laughter rolls through the woods sending birds and wildlife fleeing. "Oh Alpha, I pray to the Goddess I am here to see you and your mate." The males are slapping each other and talking about mates and mating.
"Naill, how's it going with Clar", it took several weeks for the potion that Clar had been forced to drink by Dane to clear her system. When it did, it became clear that Niall was her mate. She had felt so guilty that she had been tricked and that another male had touched her she had shut Naill out. They had a hard row to hoe but I had hope.
"She's better. Cedar has been talking with her, I think she's coming round. She let me walk her to the packhouse from the infirmary a couple of times."
'"Wonderful, let me know if I can help." I tell him as I move towards the barn and he and Tim head off for training.
The barn is spotless, everything is clean and organized. Just like it's supposed to be, but all is not what it seems. In the back stall are the pups, asleep. "Marta who's on pup duty", I ask as I watch them slowly stir.
"I don't right know, let me ask", she responds.
It took a minute or two but she got my answer for me, "Elenora and Teo, they haven't been in for breakfast. Should I send someone to look for them?"
