We arrived back in the city at around 3pm. Ryan's dad had invited us over for diner. I was nervous. I had only seen his dad very briefly before and I had never met his dad's girlfriend.

I went back to my house to get something to wear. I hadn't been here in a long time. Dad would text and call me a lot to see how I was doing. I had basically moved in with Ryan. I put on some American Apparel disco pants and a loose green tshirt. I put on some simple makeup and brushed through my hair.

Ryan: Im leaving now

K I'll be ready

I went into my closet and grabbed a jacket and ran down stairs. I waited on my phone, while scrolling threw twitter. I was getting really nervous. I started to take some deep breathes to try to calm myself down. Then Ryan texted me.

R: here

I put on my jacket and shoes and headed outside.

“Ryan I'm nervous.” I say as sitting down.

“Don't be they'll like you.”

“You can't be to sure.”

“They'll like you.”

“I mean they better.” I just looked straight forward. We didn't talk much. Ryan tried to talk so I wouldn't be so nervous but nothing could really help.

We pulled up to their house and I got out and Ryan knocked on the door.

"Hello there!" Ryan's dad said. We both smiled and walked in. Ryan's dad's girlfriend was making burgers and it smelt really good. We all sat down at the table.

"So Julia tell us about you." Asked Ryan's dad.

"Um I don't know. I'm an only child I moved here with my dad because of his job. Uh I make youtube videos."

"Oh really how long have you been on youtube?" I didn't think that he was actually interested he was just trying to start conversation.

"For about 4 years now."

"Oh wow! What kind of videos do you make."

"I used to have a beauty channel. I would just talk about makeup, fashion and stuff. But I've stopped that channel and I've started a gaming channel."

"Have you been successful with your videos?"

"Ya on my beauty channel I have over half a million subscribers."

"Oh my! Why did you stop?"

"Well I'm not a makeup artist or anything and is been doing it for 4 years and I just didn't know what else I could make a video on."

"Ok I see."

"Everyone watching didn't want me to stop but I wasn't happy with putting out videos that I wasn't really proud of. Like I could still be making videos just because I have a lot of subscribers and I would still be making money and all. But I couldn't do that."

"Ya. I get it"

"The burgers are ready." Called his dad's girlfriend. She brought everything to the table and we started eating. Coby came from upstairs and and sat beside Ryan. She had made me and Ryan veggie burgers and everyone else had normal ones. It was nice not being the only vegetarian because when ever I would go over to friends house's they would never know what to make me. It's weird, it's really not that hard but whatever they weren't use to it.

I stayed pretty quiet for most of the meal. Though I didn't feeling awkward or anything. Coby was talking about something that had happened in science class. I was having some trouble paying attention. I'm sorry I don't care about whatever happen in science and I didn't understand the story that well because I didn't know any of the people.

After we finished eating Ryan's dad cleaned up and then asked if we wanted to play poker or something.

Every weekend my dad would have some friends over and we would have a big poker tournament so I've gotten pretty good.

We played for about a hour and a half.

“I win!” I yell.

“Beginners luck.” Ryan grumbled to himself.

“I don't think it's her first time playing.” Laughed Ryan's dad.

“No it's not.” We cleaned up the cards and I quickly went to the washroom.

Ryan's POV

“Where's the bathroom?” Jul asked.

“Oh it's right at the top of the stairs.” She quickly ran up.

“She's really nice. I like her.” Said Dad.

“Ya I like her too.” I say with a smile.

“How'd you guys meet?” He asked.

“I actually met her at the grocery store.”

“Oh really?”

“Ya I was with Mitch and we recognized her from online.”

“Huh? Anyways you guys make a cute couple.”

“Thanks.” Coby had gone back up to his room and my step mom was over in the kitchen loading up the dishwasher. She yelled over.

“I agree!”

“I do too.” I mumbled to myself. Shortly after Jul come back down.

“Ya ready to go?” I ask.

“Yup.” She says with a big smile. I can tell that even though she was so nervous to come, she had actually enjoyed herself. We got up and walked over to the door. Dad was holding the door open.

“Thanks for dinner.” Said Julia.

“Your welcome. Thanks for coming.”

“Yup.”

“You guys take care.”

“Ya you too.” I said.
