PLEASE READ: From now on if deemed necessary ill be posting a single song I listened to while creating each chapter at its top. I believe listening to this music while reading will help attach yourself more to each chapter. Cheers.
𝅘𝅥𝅮Slow Dancing In The Dark - Joji
(Lapis's POV)
The rain continued to pour down against the lit up sidewalks, It had to have been 10pm by now though it was impossible to know. The coffee shop though neatly decorated with leaves and fairy lights along its ceiling and well kept leather brown seating had failed to incorporate a clock into their design and I had forgotten to grab mine, and a lot of others things. Though I couldn't possibly bring myself to go back.
Not after everything that happened. All there was to do now was look out the window pretending to not notice the disgusting coffee that sat a few inches across from me at the table. Perhaps I should have just asked for a water cup I thought to myself as the sound of the shops doorbell chimed along with the opening of their glass door.
Everytime a customer opened that door I could hear the rain much louder for moments as it held open before it shut once again and the rain become muffled. It was nothing more than a repeating reminder of what awaited me soon enough.
As I let out a sigh, resting my head against the window the sounds of footsteps became clearer along with many others but in particular one that got louder as the noise continued on.
"Is this seat taken young lady" came a voice from my right side
I shrugged too into thought to care about the strangers interests in my booth let alone myself. If anybody could pick a bad time, now would take the medal for worst and yet they continued speaking in a sweet tone.
That's no way to treat your old man Lapi"
My ears immediately perked up as I questioned the words the stranger had just spoken, old man? As I turned my head there he sat, my father with his usual attire, a basic red plaid shirt unevenly tucked into his worn out blue jeans. If he hadn't of begun to sit down im sure I would have spotted his tarnished black leather boots he always wore.
"W-What are you doing here dad!?"
"Well don't you look shocked." he said sternly "I feel like I should be asking you that question. How did you even get to Gem City?"
The stern look in his eyes glimmered with a tint of worry as he extended his hands out onto the table and I took them into mine.
"You're cold Lapi.. and why are you shaking? What happened"
I couldn't help but begin to choke up from his sweet voice as my worry began to fade
"I- Im sorry dad!" hiccuping I rambled looking for what to say next "T-the-there was this girl and we just, well I came with her in h-her van and n-ne-next thing I knew we we-were here and and-"
The hiccups worsened as my dad brushed his thumbs against the backs of my hands cooing to me "Its ok Lapi, its ok. Im here, slow down alright kiddo. Whos this girl youre talking about and why isnt she with you."
"That's the thing dad" I cried "I made an irreversible mistake and theres no way she'll ever want to see me again. She was some traveler who stopped into town and next thing I knew she couldn't pay her bill for our shops service that I had done and well i-"
"You asked her to take you here?" he interrupted
"N-no dad." I looked away from his blue eyed gaze focusing on his black locks as I continued nervously "we made a deal that in exchange for the work she'd let me travel with her and dad before you get angry I-"
