(Peridots POV)

I had been walking now for a few hours, popping my head into electronics stores asking if they were hiring. The responses were always the same 'no not at the moment' or 'i hear blank is hiring' it was frustrating to say the least and my feet were killing me from all of this walking.

I looked at my GPS for the next destinations turn, I was a few feet away which meant the shops sign should be somewhere to indicate its exact location. Looking around I saw a coffee shop, clothing outlet and some passing cars and yet no electronics store. The name of the place was labeled "Dragons Keep" it was definitely one of the dumber sounding ones on the list but its not like I had the choice of being picky with where I worked.

Ok think Peridot, it should be on this street and you've looked everywhere so far. Maybe its behind one of the buildings-

"MOVE!!!!" shrieked an oncoming voice as I quickly turned my head towards the sounds direction.

The noise had come from this short tan skinned black haired girl with purple dye tinted at the ends. Who was coming right towards me with ripped black jeans and a lavender hoodie that I had yet to make out the design of before she collided with me sending me flying onto my back as her skateboard crashed next to me.

"Oh my stars! Are you ok!?" came the voice again as I spaced out dazed from the impact "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention of where I was going. Promise you wont sue?" chuckled the girl as my hand linked with hers and i was abruptly pulled up onto my feet.

"Sue? What are you even talking about, and who the hell are you?"

"Haha, i'm going to guess you're not from here with that response. Most people would have called the cops on me from an impact like that." pulling her hand from mine she began walking towards her skateboard past me, lifting it up and adjusting it under her arm. It was a busted up simple black board with a giant yellow star on its underside and a few pieces of tape stretched around its rims covering obvious cracks in the boards build.

Looking back at me now with her skateboard in hand and a toothy grin she continued on

"The names Amethyst, whats yours"

"Peridot" I bluntly replied, placing my hand on the back of my head where my once neatly combed hair had begun to stick out.

"Groovy name dude, anyways I gotta get going." pointing behind her she placed her skateboard on the ground stepping on it with one dirty laced sneaker "Maybe ill see you around"

"Woah, hold on. You live here right?"

"Yeah, that's a weird question? You really are new to Gem City, huh."

"Actually yes I am, and I could really use some directions." I pulled out my phone walking towards her as I showed her my GPS screen with the stores location printed above "Do you know where Dragons Keep is?"

All of a sudden the girls face brightened as she laughed

"Thats fucking crazy dude, I was heading to that place right now. I'm the stores manager!"

"You're the what!" I blurted out confusingly

"Yup, and dont act so shocked dude. I'm actually quite professional." she chuckled looking me up and down "I'll walk you down there, come on."

"Ah- thank you!"

Turning off my GPS I put my phone into my back pocket and began to walk by her side, looking at the cars that sped past us.

"So" Amethyst cooed "What made you come to the city just to visit my hole in the wall shop."

"Actually" I paused looking away and back at Amethyst "Im looking for a job"
