(Peridot's POV)

How many years had it been since it all happened? Two, if my memory was clear, it was a summers night back in my parents old 2 story chipped concrete house in the suburbs. Steven was doing his usual thing, being annoying, at least he was to me in those moments before they became memories. 

I had been playing a new game on my console that I second hand bought, struggling to get through its challenges as I gritted my teeth. The sounds of him skipping across the rock pavement outside next to my white knitted hammock began to irritate me further and further. 

"STEVEN! Must you do that while im trying to game outside?" I yelled laying back into the hammocks fabric as my fingers pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Do what?" Steven questioned innocently as the sounds of him walking ceased

"Throwing that stupid ball of yours, and skipping. Whats the point of jogging around bouncing it anyways?"

"Well I-" He paused holding the red painted ball in his hands as I looked over at him from the corner of the hammock. He had dirt scraped all over his tan knees and his red star printed shirt and blue shorts were a mess as well. Mom was going to have his head if she saw him walk into the house tracking dirt looking like that.

"Well what Steven?" I asked still looking at him 

"I like it? Its not like you're doing anything better anyways Peri"

"Actually!" I insisted pushing my feet from the hammock onto the ground "I'm playing a new game, its called Super Smash Hoes though I doubt you know the game" I chuckled arrogantly

"Woah that sounds awesome! Can you show me how to play?" he beckoned as the ball fell from his hands rolling into the bushes nearby on the grass and he walked over

"Well I-... I guess, as long as it'll stop you from making noise." I sighed patting the hammock as he sat down next to me leaning over my shoulder peeking at the console

"Which character are you Peri?"

"I'm this one" I pointed with my finger towards a digitalized pink blob

"HAHA! Seriously?" 

"What!"

"Well I mean-" he chuckled "I wasn't expecting your in game character to look so adorable"

"H-hes not adorable! Hes a killing machine capable of absolute destruction!" I ranted back pulling the console from him.

"Aw come on Peri, I wanna see! You told me you'd show me how!"

"Yeah yeah, ok so listen, heres the control pad and you just press these buttons to move and attack."

"Thats it?" 

"Well yeah, but its a lot more difficult to play than it seems, ive been practicing all summer!" I pridefully stated handing the console to him

"All summer! Woah Peri, you must have beat the game by now knowing you!"

My pride had immediately shattered as I let out a bitter sigh "Well actually-" pointing towards the screen there stood a character next to mine in all black knight attire "Ive yet to beat him. Hes the final boss, but I swear they rigged the game! All he does is dodge! Its so frustrating!"
