Lack of Funds

(Lapis's POV)

My head was pounding as the light from a nearby window shined through and onto my face, forcing my eyes to squint as I turned to my side. One hand went to my eyes as I wiped them, yawning and another across from me as it rested on something... squishy? 

My eyes fully widened as I turned my head completely to find Peridot by my side and my hand rested over her waistline against her green button up pajama top. Immediately I pulled my hand from her in a panicked state, leaning myself as far away as possible against the vans back wall, my legs pushed against my chest. Her chest was heaving up and down as I stared down at her putting my hands to my mouth in shock. 

I didnt remember falling asleep, let alone in a bed with her! And yet here I was, and here she was sleeping peacefully by my side blocking me from being able to crawl out of the bed as she laid on the only side not blocked in by a wall. If I made any sudden movements beyond what I had already done I was sure to wake her up and I still wasn't sure how we ended up together intertwined in the bed sheets. My mind wandered as I kept my hands to my lips thinking, maybe I had slept walked after we parked. 

I did drive for a few hours, and with having nothing to do but stare out at open roads it was easy to get exhausted. But, I had never slept walked before and wasn't this illegal?! I just crawled my way into some girls bed while she was asleep and slept next to her without her consent and on top of that I had put my hand on her waistline! 

This was it Lapis I cried to myself internally, she's going to wake up, freak out and you'll be kicked out on the curb miles away from home. As I panicked to myself, Peridot had begun to shuffle in her sleep, awakening. 

OH MY GOD!!! I screamed internally widening my eyes as I watched her grumble and shift onto her side patting the bed and moving onto the counter top in search of her glasses. All I could do was sit there watching as she blindly sat up, still tapping the counter with her palm before touching the rim of her glasses and pulling them from the counter and onto her face.

I uncovered my hands from my mouth slowly as I spoke in a meek tone 

"uhm- hi Peridot"

Immediately she turned her head to me, leaning off the bed and onto the floor 

"Oh good morning! I wasn't expecting you to be up yet-"

"Y-you what?" 

"Well I mean, you were passed out on the drivers seat when I woke up, I figured you'd sleep the entire morning away"

My face filled with heat as my eyes widened watching her walk towards the counter as she started a compact silver coffee machine, scratching the back of her head. I was sleeping in the driver's seat..? Then that meant.. oh god. Biting my lip my mind wandered to what could have happened when I was asleep, did she carry me?! But she was so short! Oh my stars, I can't believe I just fell asleep in the driver's seat and now I was in her bed and she was completely unfazed while I could barely pry my hands from my flustered face. 

"Do you want some coffee?" called Peridot as she pointed towards the filled coffee pot

"I- I'm not really that big of a fan of coffee, do you have tea?" I sheepishly replied

Peridots eyebrows lifted as she shrugged opening one of the cabinet doors "How could you possibly not like coffee?"

"Its bitter!" I whined back watching her pull a box of mint tea bags from the cabinet shutting it promptly afterwards

"Thats kind of the whole point you know?" 

She had already filled a white cup with the dark liquid, pulling it to her lips as she sipped on it while the steam covered her black rimmed glasses. Pulling it away from her lips she began making the tea, but not before looking over at me, still leaned against the wall in her bed, as her lips pursed into a grin.
