(Quick disclaimer. This is one of my favourite episodes which means they might be quite long and there might be some extra Doctor x Ivy scenes. Sorry!)
The sound of the TARDIS materialising just outside of the Powell Estate should have caught some people's attention, but it strangely didn't as people don't really pay attention to a mysterious blue box even if it appears out of nowhere. That is why even though the chameleon circuit is fried, the disguise is actually kinda perfect.
Rose Tyler stepped out of the doors, onto the alleyway just in front of of her block of flats and The Doctor and Ivy stepped out just after her.
"How long have I been gone?" Rose asked, turning to face the two Time Lords who were leaning against the box.
"About 12 hours." The Doctor replied.
Rose laughed. "Right, I won't be long, I just want to see my mum!"
"What are you going to tell her?" Ivy asked.
"I don't know. Maybe that I've been to the year 5 billion? And only been gone, what? 12 hours?" Ivy and The Doctor chuckled. "Nah. I'll just tell her I spent the night at Shareen's. See ya later." She began walking away before turning back. "Oh. Don't you disappear!" The other two just nodded watching Rose run off.
"There's a lot of graffiti here isn't there?" Ivy asked, looking around at the paint covered walls and floors.
"Yep. What do you expect, it is London after all!"
"Yeah well, I was expecting maybe just a little less?"
"Nah." He smirked at her before something on a lamppost caught his attention. Turning his head slightly to the side he walked towards it, thinking he saw Rose's face on there. When he and Ivy got closer, they saw what the poster said, it was a missing poster with Rose's face and "CAN YOU HELP?" written in big writing. They looked to each other before sprinting off towards Rose's flat.
They made it, flung the door open and sprinted in; seeing Rose and her mother hugging tightly.
"It's uh... it's not 12 hours. It's 12 months!" Ivy started.
"You've been gone a whole year." The Doctor finished before smiling at Jackie. "Sorry!"

"The hours I've sat here! Days, and weeks and months! All on my own!" Jackie Tyler yelled at her only daughter, while The Doctor and Ivy cringed with every word she said. "I thought you were dead!! And where were you? Travelling!? What the hell does that mean? Travelling!? That's no sort of answer." She turned to the police man sat in the chair opposite Rose. "You ask her. She won't tell me! That's all she says. Travelling."
"That's what I was doing!" Rose defended.
"With your passport still in the drawer?" Jackie yelled again. "It's just one lie after another."
"I meant to phone. I really did, I just... forgot."
"What for a year? You forgot for a year!? And I am left sitting here. I just don't believe you. Why won't you tell me where you've been!?"
"Actually, it's my fault. I sort of employed Rose as my companion." The Doctor tried to explain.
"When you say companion? Is that a sexual relationship?" The officer asked.
"No!" He and Rose answered at the same time.
"Then what is it? Because you, you waltz in here all charm and smiles and the next thing I know, she vanishes off the face of the Earth? And who's she then? Is she just another one of your "companions"? Did you abduct her too!"
