...„No baby you can't go, you didn't get a letter." The girls eyes filled with tears.

„But you get to go!" She pointed at her sister. „Of course you get chosen once again. You just don't wanna share with me, I know it. You are so selfish Lily!"  And with that the girl stormed up the stairs, leaving her sister crying in the living room.

„But it isn't my choice Mom. You know that right?", she said to her mother, still sobbing. „I want her to go Mom, I don't wanna be selfish!" She buried her face in her hands. „It's okay Lily your not selfish, I know that."  Her mother hugged her. „You won't be alone there you have Severus."...

1 September 1971

...A tall woman walked  through the massive hall of  Kings Cross Station, on her hand a little boy, around eleven, that carried a black suitcase. They were headed to the barrier between Plattform 9 and 10 and the women squeezed her sons arm alerting him to walk faster.

„It's your fault that we are late so hurry up, you'll miss your train and believe me I won't apparate to Hogsmead with you!"

She noticed a little girl, about her sons age, with her parents that seemed confused as to where to pass through.

„I can't believe they're still letting these creatures kids into Hogwarts. It's disgusting", she said, more to herself that to her son. „I'm going to leave you here, you know how to get to the gate and I have business to attend to. I will see you on Christmas."

And with that the black haired boy was left standing alone on the Plattform...

...The air on Plattform 9¾ turned grey as the Hogwarts Express pulled in. The boy pushed trough the masses of people trying to get to the train.

When he finally got on, he slipped into the first compartment he could find which held a boy his age. This boy ran his hand through his hair as he put his suitcase on the rack and sat down facing him.

The black haired boy introduced himself as Sirius. „First year as well huh? James Potter" responded the other one.

„Yeah, are you exited?" asked Sirius.

„Hell yeah I am. Mostly for Quidditch tho." And with that the friendship was born.

Almost half an hour of heated discussion about the current quidditch teams later, the door to the compartment opened again.

„We've searched the entire train for an empty compartment and I'm tired, we are sitting in here Sev!" demanded the red haired girl that stepped foot into the compartment. She was followed by a pale boy who looked like his hair hadn't been washed for a while.

He didn't seem very happy to share the compartment but sat down next to Sirius anyway.

The boys continued their conversation about quidditch but eventually circled back to the upcoming school year.

Sirius noticed that the pale boy and the girl talked about the sorting as well. „You better be in Slytherin" he said to the girl.

That made James, who hadn't shown interest in the strange duo before, turn to them. „Slytherin? I think I'd leave! Wouldn't you?" he asked.

„Then I'd maybe have to go home right away, my whole family has been in Slytherin for years." Sirius almost seemed ashamed as he told him that. „Maybe I'll be the first one to break the tradition" he added.
