troubled - the marauders

Chapter 2

...Frank and Alice got out before them and proceeded to walk to the carriages. Severus got out right behind her and began to talk about their schedule which they received along with their booklists a few weeks prior. They had significantly less classes together than last year and Severus wondered why.

„I guess its because Gryffindor and Slytherin had a lot of classes together last year so they wanna change it up a notch. You know how well our houses work together."

Severus raised his eyebrows.

„Sarcasm Sev." Lily grinned. He was very intelligent in some ways but so slow in others.

„Yeah of course. But at least we work together."...

(PoV Sirius)

1 September 1975

The train jerked as it stopped in Hogsmeade and Sirius stood up to get his luggage. He handed Remus his brown travel bag and got his own black suitcase, on which he had put a big Gryffindor sticker, from the rack. 

Sirius noticed that Remus looked rather pale, probably due to the full moon that had occurred a few days prior. He knew that the transitions were way harder for Moony when they weren't around, especially when he was at home. 

The nights when they all explored the grounds together were the best times for Sirius. They had only had the opportunity for a few times but they already discovered so many things around the castle. 

Last year they'd gotten the idea for the marauders map, a map that was supposed to show all of Hogwarts and all the secret passages they had discovered in their times at the school. 

Building this map had been a pain in the ass and they weren't near to being finished but it was a fulfilling task. So far they had a rough outline of the castle, rooms and passageways. 

They were trying to work out a charm that would show everyones location in the castle, but that was quite advanced magic that they had yet to figure out. Each one off them had a draft of the map that they had worked on over the summer and they were going to compare those when they'd arrive to Hogwarts. 

Sirius had worked on a way to seal the map so that only they could access it but he was being a perfectionist about it and really wanted it to have some special twists, so he wasn't quite finished.

The boys were some of the last people who got out of the train, along with some third year Hufflepuffs and a few students from their year. Sirius saw James looking at one of them, he realized it was Lily Evans and some of her friends. 

There was this shy mouselike girl, Snivellus who was of course right next to her, a Slytherin named Finnik that he knew to be head boy and his little sister Marlene who was a friend of Lily, although much bolder than her. 

Sirius had seen her with Lily a couple of times. She seemed to be really witty and was also really good looking, what made her, in his opinion, a lot more interesting than Lily. James of course disagreed which might have been influenced by the fact that Marlene obviously didn't like him. She had made several sassy comments about him in from of Lily and that made James look bad so he naturally didn't like her very much either. 

They all went up to the carriages and surprisingly there were only two left. One of them held two Hufflepuffs, a couple, that had gotten out of the train before them and Lily, Snivellus and the shy girl got in with them. 

Marlene wanted to take the last empty seat, but Finnik slipped into the carriage before her and laughed. „Looks like you have to take the other one, Sissy!" Sirius couldn't help but grin as he saw that. She however didn't seem very amused. „Finnik McKinnon get out of there right now that was my seat!" Her brother just laughed at her and the carriage took of.

The marauders climbed into the last carriage, Peter and James on one side, Remus and Sirius on the other. „Looks like you're gonna have to ride with us, princess", James said and tapped  on the free seat next to him. Marlene crossed her arms and went up to their carriage. She gave James a death look as she climbed into it and took the seat next to Sirius. He smirked at James who let out a amused laugh. 

Peter broke the silence. „Well did you hear about the new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher?"

 „You already told us in the train Peter." James sounded slightly annoyed. 

„Maybe if you behave for once this teacher won't hate you as much." There was yet another snarky comment of hers.

„I didn't really care with Professor Glaunt and our grades only start to matter this year. No one cares about your marks in the fourth year", James explained. Sirius didn't believe that his best friend would hold back with his pranks and mischief this year and he certainly didn't plan to either.

„So McKinnon hows your schedule looking this year?" James asked.

 „Aka what classes do I have with Lily so you can annoy her when I'm not there? I see right through you Potter." 

James laughed. „I can't say that your wrong."

„What is your obsession with her anyways, like just fucking ask her. I know better than to get lost in other peoples relationship drama." Sirius noticed that Marlene was annoyed by the topic and he wondered why. He looked at James who showed the same reaction. Maybe that meant she had been talking about it with Lily and the would mean chances for him. Remus, to his right, seemed equally as annoyed. James had been asking about Lily non stop since Remus and her became friends and even Sirius thought it was nerve-racking at times.

„Just take all your gryffindor courage and talk to her, its not that hard", Marlene said. Sirius laughed at her comment.

„Yeah like you are so daring." The sentence dripped with sarcasm.  Marlene smiled knowingly and got closer to Sirius' face, almost touching his nose. 

„Would you like me to be, Black?" After that she abruptly backed off, took her bag, got out of the carriage, that had just stopped, and walked up to the entrance of castle. Sirius was left sitting there, still able to smell her vanilla scent and didn't move. 

James smirked as he gave him a knowing look. „And I thought you'd never get laid, Padfoot!"
