Friendship brings together people in odd ways. It can bring together people that are miles apart, or like you and Jeongin, two best friends who sat inches apart with timid smiles. The previous standing of your friendship had been changed in a matter of minutes but you sure didn't regret it at all. An hour ago you didn't ever think you would be sitting next to him on your bed, holding hands, eating popsicles and watching old vines on YouTube that are notorious for being the epitome of cringe. It started with his text. A text you sure hadn't been expecting on a hot, yet random summer night like this.

You had opened the door after your quiet traveling through your house in an attempt to not awaken your sleeping parents. Why would Jeongin be here so late? He's usually only awake this late if he has something on his mind. Cracking open the door, just an inch you saw a patiently waiting Jeongin. He was rocking back and forth on his feet with his hands stuffed into his black hoodie that he often wore with messy, slightly curly hair as if he had just woken up from his sleep. He reminded you of a lost kindergartener, looking for their parents, or in Jeongin's case something else.

You opened your door wider letting out a whisper filled with mock annoyance, "Jeongin, of all times you could have visited me today you decide to come at," You checked your phone just to exaggerate "11:57 at night!"

Jeongin scrunched his nose at your scolding debating on if now was the right time. He couldn't back out now especially after your playful attack at him.

"I just wanted to tell you something." Jeongin said after you finished your mini speech as to why he shouldn't show up to your house at 12am.

He let out a airy, nervous sigh looking up at you, "What a warm welcome I've received," Jeongin tried to act more natural and calm to slow his heart that was beating too fast in his chest. "Can we sit out here for now?"

You nodded gesturing to the steps in front of your door. Closing the door softly you padded your feet over to Jeongin sitting next to him on the steps. It was still warm outside from the previous burning hot heat you had survived in earlier that day. The moon was high in the sky lighting the steps with a soft white light.

"Sooo...is everything okay?" You both sat there waiting for the other to speak.

"Everything's fine I wanted to tell you something." He twiddled with his fingers staring at his feet.

"And?" You hugged your feet into your chest waiting for him to say whatever had been such a pressing matter at 12am.

"Okay how should I say this without sounding weird..." Jeongin struggled to find the right words while as you sat there patiently waiting. "You know how we're best friends?" He finally met your eyes with a thoughtful expression settling into his features.

"Yes, for 15 years now." You hummed in response. "As best friends we're supposed to love each other right?" Jeongin furrowed him eyebrows together and you did the same at his odd question.

"Of course I love you."

"Well, I love you too but in a way that I shouldn't, more than best friends should." He had detached himself from your gaze while your brain tried to process what he was actually telling you.

Jeongin likes you. Jeongin loves you.

You didn't know what to say so he continued on, "I keep telling myself these feelings I get around you aren't okay but I can't help it," Jeongin grabbed your hand to stop his nervously moving fingers, they felt cold to the touch in your hand. "You make my heart jump when you're around and honestly you're the only person I could imagine myself with." The corners of his mouth were slowly curving into a smile.

"Do you...do you feel the same too?" He asked the question you knew he would eventually come to a conclusion with leaving you pondering your thoughts. Of course you liked him but you never would have thought he would confess or ask for an answer at such a...unimportant night. Being stuck in your thoughts you didn't notice his hand that clung onto yours going limp, his hopeful smile fading, and lively eyes dimming.

"I'm sorry if this is too much. I shouldn't have come here, I'll go-" He resolved to leaving, starting to pull his hand away from yours, that is until you took your chance and pressed your lips against his. With natural instinct he returned your kiss, matching your fervor with a slow pace.

He felt lightheaded at your touch and you were drunk with love feeling your his lips move against yours. You had laced your arms around his neck while his hands moved to bring you closer, one hand on your thigh and the other around your waist before you both pulled away. You stole a moment to search his eyes and he admittedly looked like a fallen angel under the soft moonlight that cascaded over his features.  There was a serene moment of silence before either of you spoke.

"So I take that your answer is yes?" Jeongin pulled you a bit closer, not wanting to let go just yet.

"Yes I love you too, more than a best friend should." You laid your head on his shoulder letting a wide smile blossom across your face. Jeongin pulled you up, steadying you on your feet so you could go inside.

"I'm glad this didn't turn out horrible, now let's go inside and pull an all nighter."
