Bokuto Koutaro had been deaf since he was born. Which is why, the first time his mother had told him he was going to stop being homeschooled and go to real school, he was scared. He knew that he would probably be a subject to bullying, but he was most worried about not making any friends.
He walked in on the first day, trying his hardest to read people's lips. Because he was deaf, he wasn't able to talk (A/n kinda like shoko from a silent voice) . He walked into his first class, terrified. The teacher had him introduce himself, he did so but writing on the board. He could see from the corner of his eye that several students were already smirking and laughing. He couldn't help but feel a little sad, he was just hoping to make a friend. He read his teacher's lips...
"Bokuto, go sit next to Akaashi in the back row. Akaashi raise your hand."
Oh man, he had no clue how much that sentence would change his life.
Bokuto saw a boy raise his hand. He had her black hair, that shined. His eyes were a shade of dark blue that was very hard to describe. Almost like the ocean at night. He was very pale, and not very muscular. Without realizing, Bokuto walked over to this boy and blushed so hard it might have reached his ears. Akaashi simply looked at him, nodded at him and went back to taking notes. He quickly erased the description of the boy that he had in his head. He remembered that day a few years ago, he was about 13 years old. He was attracted to his next door neighbor. No, not the girl, her older brother. He talked to his mother about it, she panicked and called a therapist to help him out of this "phase". From that day, he knew he had to push all feelings aside and forget about any attraction to boys. He began reading his teacher's lips again, until he was hit in the side with a note.
"So you can't hear anything right? Meet me after class."
He looked over and saw a boy who was around his height, who seemed very nice. This boy also had black hair, not quite as nice as Akaashi's but still nice. The boy's hair was hard to describe. It was almost ask if he woke up and never brushed it. The boy was sitting next to another boy, who was much shorter, had blonde dyed hair with black roots and seemed completely uninterested and simply played a game on his phone. Bokuto decided to write back.
"Who are you?"
"I'm kuroo"
"Why did you want me to meet you?"
"Oh... I'm sorry if it sounded like I wanted to hurt you... I just wanted to help you and show you around. It's probably gonna be tough if you can't hear. Not to mention there are some pretty mean guys here. I thought I should warn you."
Bokuto looked at the note and wondered if he should trust it. He looked at Kuroo who just flashed his a smile. Bokuto looked at his eyes. Because he was deaf, he needed a way to understand emotions, as he could not tell by the tone of voices. He saw nothing but kindness and a sort of willingness to be friends.
"Thank you. Sorry for any trouble."
"Nah, no problem. You seem like a nice guy, I just wanna help."
This time Bokuto was the one to smile at Kuroo. Kuroo smiled back. This was another thing that would drastically change Bokuto's life. The discovery of a crazy but kind boy who would become his best friend, and someone who he could reveal all his emotions too. He then saw the teacher talking and read his lips.
"Please work with your desk mate on these questions."
He turned to Akaashi and decided to write to him.
"Your name is Akaashi, right?"
"Yes."
Bokuto could tell, by his eyes, that even though he gave such a dry answer and his face was neutral, he seemed a bit happy and excited.
