Living as a human wasn't that different from what I got used to through those years. Well, I could say that the only thing that had really changed, was my perception of things: humans can touch things and they have particular emotions which are really hard to be controlled. It is more like a long roller coast; some days, you feel like everything is ok and that the world is the most beautiful place of the universe, but then, there are those days when you feel like you no longer have certainties when everything just seems to fall apart. I guess it is a human thing, and, I think I'm getting used to this kind of changes, to lots of worries and rejects. I mean, when everything just looks to be ok, then one single stupid thing come to ruin everything you got. But it is ok, it is normal... On the other hand, life proceeded with his frenetic rhythms, after all, it was still 2072.
So, I want to tell you one particular event which was kind of, well you know, weird. Everything began when I was like, 13yo I guess, and, well, I was just doing my homework in the living room all alone at home because my parents went shopping. Actually, I wasn't doing my homework, I was more like procrastinating on social with my cellphone, I didn't love school at all. Well, while chilling in the living room, something happened in the woods right in front of our house; before noticing, I had heard something similar to an explosion. I listened carefully, meanwhile, the house became to tremble slightly. I turned to look outside; we had a beautiful french window which served as access for our big garden. Everything looked normal, but a thick black smoke could be seen coming from the woods.
On one hand, I was like nothing had happened, but on the other, my mind was just wondering what was going on. I mean, from our garden the woods could be easily accessed. Of course, what I did is pretty obvious; I wanted so badly to get into that fucking woods and to find out what was that black smoke. I quickly got up from the chair, and I made my way to the french window. I looked at it for a moment, then, I opened it up. Outside it wasn't either too cold nor too warm; I mean, It was October, typical autumnal weather. I began to walk slowly till I reached the enclosure which parted the wood from the garden. I stepped over it, and so, I got into the woods. I was pacing through the little pathway; with every single step, the crunch of dry leaves could be heard. I got more and more absorbed in the woods, and, at some point, I reached the "black smoke".
Well, at first sight, I was shocked: I hid behind a tree, so as no one could see me. I saw a black and triangular spaceship which looked like it had just had an accident. The black smoke was coming from the left side, I think where there was one of the engines. Well, other than shocked I was astounded; I'd never seen a spaceship before then, so, it would have been amazing regardless.
I was scrutinizing it; suddenly my attention was caught by a unique writing on it. There were curious characters; I've always been attracted by singular alien writings, well, just attracted by them, because I'm too lazy to learn something about. Well, we do have business relationships with aliens, so, scientists managed to learn about different languages, and well, we study the most important at school but, I don't really love studying.
After a while, I decided there was no point in hiding, so, I took some steps to get closer to the spaceship. It would look bigger if you observed it more closely. Well, I walked around it for three times I guess. I was super curious; I would have got in it if the spaceship hatch was open...
Then, I stopped walking to look closer at the writings
"What the heck is this?"
I muttered to myself. I had never seen those characters, neither on school books, at least I would have remembered them. That was the only time I regretted not studying. I was trying hard, but nothing came to my mind...
After I took a good look at the writings, I started walking again, but this time, while I stepped right in front of the hatch, it opened. I fall to the ground as I had seen a small alien, almost my height (Well, I'm not that tall), who came out the spaceship.
"What the..."
I whispered. I was astonished; it was the first time I had seen an alien. Maybe I was more amazed by the situation, but I still couldn't get up; ok, I have to admit it, I was kind of freaked out, but not that much, after all, it was an alien, not a spider. I tried to remember those little things I studied at school, and, luckily, I remembered something
"You're... You're a hybrid, aren't you?"
My voice was slightly shaking. The alien looked at me with those big, pitch-black eyes of him. It felt like he was peering right into my soul.
He had a little object in his three-fingered hands. I think he turned it on the same moment I spoke"So, this is really how humans look like"
I took a few steps back while trying to get on my feet again
"Well, can you speak little human? I heard you whispering..."
I wasn't really sure about what to do, I was just confused on if I was supposed to be scared or really interested.
"Well... well... I... I can speak"
I was really having a hard time getting up by myself; I needed to stretch out my arm to reach one tree and getting back on my feet.
"Do... do you have a... name?"
I felt like my brain was exploding in that same moment. The alien tilted his big drop-shaped head to the left. After a few seconds, he answered
"I read somewhere humans call each other by names. I don't have one but I have an identification code"
I furrowed my eyebrows. Identification code? What?
"AZ579AX"
I blinked a few times. In that moment I realised I had to call him by what looked like a bunch of letters and numbers
"Little human, I think I know who you are. You are the one "they" missed. Roger Meddows Taylor. You're unmistakable, aren't you?"
My eyes widened; how the fuck did that alien know my name? I was really freaking out that time. I took another few steps back. I felt tears flooding in my eyes. I turned back and I began to run away. The last thing I heard was this
"Remember that "they" are searching for you little human"
I run as fast as possible, but the alien didn't follow me; when I got back home, I felt safe but I began to wonder
"What did he mean with: "they" are searching for you...?"
It was pretty obvious: "They" were searching for the only human they weren't able to delete the memory to...

Author notes:
Hi everyone! This is a pretty short chapter, but, hey you know, the problem is the length of the episode. I think you'll find some mistakes through the chapters (Not just this one); actually I can't help it, I'm an Italian girl and my English is what it is. If you have some hints to improve the chapters, I'll be happy to read them all🙃
