Everything was floating in midair; Roger's grip on Brian's collar loosened.
"You're a scientist, aren't you?"
"I can't explain right now... The only thing I can tell is that they were supposed to arrive next week."
"Who? Who is arrived?"
"We can't talk about this now, but, watch out: the gravity could be back at any moment!"
The blonde guy was confused; everything looked upside down, not to talk about his feelings. There was a mess everywhere: both outside and inside him.
"Brian, Dominique is still in that classroom..."
Roger said with a concerned voice; the girl was in that room, which made him worried.
"I'm not that good at diving, but I guess it is a different thing to swim in the air."
The two friends tried their best to reach the classroom door. Brian was the first one to grab the doorknob.
"Dominique?"
He called the girl name while pushing the door open. The hard truth was that no one was in that room anymore. Quickly, Roger swam to get in the classroom.
"Dominique?"
The room was completely empty; the girl wasn't there anymore. Both the blond and the curly guy felt their hearts sinking... Desperation was taking control of them.
"Where is she, Brian?"
"I... I don't know..."
The two of them looked everywhere for her, but there wasn't a soul in that room.
"Why she isn't here!?"
Roger screamed in despair.
"Calm down..."
The eldest was at the verge of crying; he tried hard so as not to weep himself. Suddenly, everything fell to the ground. The two guys, luckily, weren't hurt that much. Meanwhile, the room looked a disaster: benches, computers, robots, chairs... Everything had been destroyed by the unexpected fall... Brian and Roger were laying on the ground; the first one was nearer the window, while the other was in a corner. It took them a bit to be finally able to at least seat down. They looked at each other across the room.
"You ok?"
"I've just fallen from one meter and a half."
Roger said before noticing Brian's forehead: there was a deep cut over his right eyebrow.
"Brian, your forehead is bleeding..."
The curly guy brought his hand to the bleeding cut.
"That's nothing. Can you get up?"
He asked.
"I feel dizzy, but yes, it looks like I can."
The blonde guy tried to get up slowly. His balance was totally off; Brian was doing his best to get back on his feet as well, but he could barely manage to stay still.
"Roger, we should get out of here; go to the door, don't come to me."
Brian ordered to Roger, who nodded his head slightly. After a lot of time struggling with that dizzy feeling, the two guys managed to get outside the room. Similarly, in the hallways everything was turned upside down; Roger looked out some windows and noticed destroyed cars, light poles everywhere, people to the ground who had been hurt by the fall... Yes, their world had been messed up in a few minutes, but, it hadn't finished yet... They got outside the school, as quickly as they could; Brian was looking at the sky...
"You know what's gonna happen next?"
Roger freaked out at his best friend affirmation.
"What... What's gonna happen?"
He asked, scared by what could have been the answer. Brian pointed to the sky; it looked like the sky was being teared up. It wasn't just a gush: it was an interdimensional portal; the question was: what's going to get through it? The answer was not long in coming... Abruptly, a giant spaceship went through it. Everyone looked either stunned, or amazed, or shocked, or all these; no one was expecting it, no one knew what to do.
"It is a..."
"Mothership..."
Brian finished Roger sentence.
"We have to hide."
The eldest was too calm to Roger's tastes.
"Follow me."
The two of them simply got in the school backyard; there was a little closet which was always open but nobody knows. (It was something like his secret place, but, surely, no one would have found them in there) Brian opened the door of the room.
"Get in here."
"It is too narrow... We won't fit in together."
"We have to. Stop complaining."
The younger snorted as he got in the already tight closet; the eldest did the same.
"You know they were coming?"
"Shut up, unless you don't want to be kidnapped by one of them..."
"So you knew it... Well, there is a lot of things you haven't told me, isn't there?"
"I'm not the guilty one in here; shall I ask you why you were eavesdropping?"
"That's not the po..."
Roger's was shut up by one of Brian's hands.
"I heard something."
Roger licked Brian's hand, who was quickly removed by the blonde's mouth.
"The heck, Rog!?"
"You shouldn't have shut me up in that way!"
Roger whispered.
"Idiot."
After a few seconds, they heard people screaming; there was hell outside that tiny closet. Roger was freaking out; he began to shake slightly. He suddenly felt Brian's arms wrapping around him.
"Don't worry, we're safe in here."
The guitarist was petting Roger's hair gently... Someone was right in the school garden as they heard him or her crying out for help. Maybe it was a she... Roger wanted to disappear in that exact moment: Brian was making him feel better, but he was too scared to try to chill even for a second. He snuggled closer to Brian. An hour was finally gone, and no one was shouting anymore.
"Nothing will happen if we open, that's right?"
Roger's voice was shaking. Brian was still holding Roger thigh when the younger pushed the door slightly open with his foot. He had his eyes closed; Brian's were too.
"At the count of three, we open our eyes."
Roger nodded against the guitarist's chest.
"1... 2... 3..."
The young couldn't see anything but black; at that moment he realised how he and Brian were close to each other. He turned his head to look outside the closet; what he saw was horrifying. An alien was facing them. Roger couldn't really scream; his eyes widened and he suddenly hid in Brian again. He could feel Brian's fast heart-beat which calmed down after a few seconds.
"You've almost scared me, AZK579AX..."
Author notes:
How are you, my darlings? I should have done a chapter with Roger screaming"hE YeEtEd mY GoOd MaRAcAs AwAY!"
Or, better, with Roger singing in the lap of the gods.
The two of them saw an alien"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Roger shouted after he had heard Freddie singing.
"Is in the lap of the gods..."
