Since the first rehearsal we had together, we got on well with each other. Through months, I learned plenty of things about playing in a group... You weren't alone, so, you had to listen to each other and find solutions together; It was kind of annoying, but the results were amazing. We could also write our songs: it was enjoyable even if we constantly argued about everything.

"Change the rhythm, I don't like it this way!" "Brian, this solo is too long!" "Sing it like this!" "We should add some choruses too..." "I hate choruses..."

Stuff like this...

Even though, we survived one year and a half, but, we didn't just survive together, we also succeeded in becoming the most popular band in the whole school. We were called to play at every musical festival organized by the school, parties and general events: we also used to play in bars and restaurants. However, these whole things happened after Christmas: we wanted to show the school that we existed that we were very good at playing together. The chance showed up with the arrival of the Christmas holidays; we asked the student council if we could play something on the day before the starting of holidays... Guess what? They refused since they didn't know if we could really play our instruments. I couldn't accept it at all, so, I prepared a plan. Two days before the Christmas holidays, I FaceTimed with Tim and Brian:

"Tomorrow is gonna be the last day of this term guys; it means we have one last chance..."

The two of them looked at me perplexed: they already knew well (even after just 3 months) I had something bouncing in my mind...

"No one told us we can't play in the practice room during the break, then, Tim, your bass guitar is still there after yesterday afternoon, isn't it?"

"I guess you're right. What's on your mind?"

I smirked

"We can, unwillingly, play with all the volume turned up... Unwillingly, I stress..."

"What if they put us in detention?"

I rolled my eyes at Brian's observation

"It is going to be Christmas holidays Brian! Then, you've never been in detention! Neither of us has ever been in detention! This can be a great opportunity to make the school know the name: Smile! Do you really want to lose it?"

I knew I defeated Brian, and I also knew he was actually glad I had that idea...

"So?"

Tim scrolled his shoulders

"Actually, it is a good idea..."

Brian sighed

"Let's go for it then..."

The following day, we did it. For that occasion, we went earlier to school in the morning to set up everything without anybody noticing. We could steal keys from the school council thanks to Dominique who was part of it; everything was according to plan. We waited for the bell to ring to finally run to the rehearsal room and get the ball rolling. We started with what the school needed: rock 'n roll. We really enjoyed ourselves, and, in this way, we managed to get known in the school and to get detention after the Christmas holidays.

"Wasn't it a great idea Brian?"

"Well, now students are acknowledged about the band, but teachers think about us as unruly. Great only on one hand..."

"It's better to be known as rebels, than a bunch of cowards"

Along with what I explained to you before, that morning made us popular. Things kept their pace for a good year, but, to be more accurate, a year and a half.

Well, everything was going in the right direction, but not in Tim's view. It was like we were slowly parting from each other, not to mention that we weren't getting along and seeing eye to eye about music. After one year, it was in April, (I was in the 10th grade) things began to change for worse... It was hell for me since school duties were becoming more and more challenging; I had to study to reach at least a passing grade, on the other hand, band responsibilities were becoming heavier. I was stressed out by that whole situation, and Tim was just getting on my nerves. The straw that broke the camel's back was a heated argument started during rehearsal for Brian and Tim's new song: "Doin' alright". Well, while jamming together, Brian stopped everything as he finally had the perfect idea. He took his guitar and played some chords. As always, Brian wanted us to put down some rhythms and a bass line, but Tim was already complaining when we hadn't started anything yet. Actually, he looked kind of weird since I entered the room; he had his head over heels. He was more likely mad at me for something I had done, but I wasn't sure at all. At some point, I was talking with Brian about the rhythm; Tim was looking over us.

"Are you ok Tim?"

Brian and I noticed almost instantly Tim's sight struck on us; the atmosphere in the room was growing uneasy. Brian, unfortunately, didn't get any answer from Tim.

"Really, dude, you look deadly pale..."

"Bloody hell, you're fucking freaking me out, Tim!"

Here's when the situation had begun to fall apart

"The hell, Rog!?"

I was kind of perplexed at that point.

"Do you think I've become an idiot all of a sudden! You're a jerk!"

"What the hell are you talking about, Tim?"

"Stop pretending! You know how much I care about her!"

"Are you kidding me, Tim?"

"That fucking party, you idiot! You were shitfaced and you made out with my girlfriend!"

"Don't be so fucking ridiculous! I wasn't there at all!"

"You disgust me!"

I got up from the drum stool. Brian was dumbstruck; he was Tim's best friend, so, I think he believed more Tim than me.

"Will you stop accusing me, Tim!? I wasn't there! I had to study for that stupid maths test! Brian, you helped me during the video call, didn't you?"

He didn't answer

"The hell Brian! I would have never done it! For god's sake, be realists!"

"You're a bitch, Roger"

I was completely red with anger; I took the drumsticks, and I threw them to him.

"I'm done with you! I'm quitting!"

"That's pointless, Tim!"

Brian finally spoke

"Next time I'll shove your drumsticks down your throat!"

Tim said before leaving.

"What the heck..."

Brian whispered to himself

"Is it true, Roger?"

I sighed in despair

"No, it isn't! I was studying for that fucking maths test..."

Brian sighed as well, while the room was falling into total silence.

That day was definitely the worst day ever...
