"Freddie, I'm worried about him..."

The black-haired turned his head to look at Brian.

"About who?"

While putting his guitar in its cover, the guitarist sighed deeply.

"About Roger... He hasn't shown up in a week, but I know he is coming to school. Tell me: have you heard from him yet?"

Freddie scrolled his shoulders: he wanted to tell Brian the truth, but he felt like he would have hurt him with honesty.

"Well, we met in the hallways, but we just greeted each other..."

He was trying to sound confident; he lied partially to Brian: the drummer and the singer really met in the hallways, but they talked a bit more than just greeting each other. Brian broke apart.

"He doesn't even look at me... It is like he is frightened... Every time he sees me, he runs away."

You could tell how much the curly guy was concerned by his eyes; they weren't joyful: they were filled with repressed pain.

"Is there something you told him which could have made him upset?"

The two of them were finally getting out of the practice room.

"I don't know, Fred..."

Brian felt more and more broken with every thought: he searched for an answer everywhere. Did he really break Roger's feeling? How? He couldn't find out what he did, but he felt worse at the idea of him hurting Roger. Brian was taken again to reality when Freddie put one hand on his shoulder.

"Everything will come back to normal, you just have to wait. Don't think about it too much darling. Well, don't you have a date tomorrow night? Think about it, you'll feel better!"

Little did Freddie know that Brian was going to break up with her girlfriend; the curly-haired guy had been feeling weird about his emotions since the previous year. He felt something strange growing in his stomach whenever Roger was around; he knew he had fallen in love, but he was engaged, and he wasn't sure of what to do. Then, he finally understood; the only way to be at peace with himself was leaving her.

"That's right."

It was the only answer he could give to Freddie.

Meanwhile, Roger was completely absorbed by the cosyness of his bed; wondering, his mind brought him in the depths of his desires. He wanted desperately to get over his feelings for Dominique and Brian, but, every time he tried, and he attempted so hard, everything would just win over him. He couldn't either give a look at them because they would have always reminded him of that fucking kiss... He was asking why; he was screaming against the world, against himself and his nonsense... He was hurting himself, but he was also beaking Dominique and Brian; he knew well.

The day after, he went to school as usual, but this time, he had to go to band practise unless he wanted to be kicked out; sometimes, Freddie could be really persuasive. So, that day, he was forced to face Brian; he was obliged to face his feelings. Well, school time went over slowly; Roger felt fully upside down as his thoughts kept reminding him of his two friends... The only one who could help him was Deaky; he had a long talk with him, he explained everything, starting with how he felt to how crazy that whole situation looked. The younger comforted him as much as he could, that, if he didn't want to go to rehearsal, he could have reported that he was feeling ill. Roger, deep down, knew he couldn't escape anymore... He did really go to band practise that day, but he kept his mouth shut since his mind won on him totally.

"What are we beginning with?"

The singer asked eagerly.

"What about Doing Alright?"

"Nono, Brian, let John choose this time: what would you like to do first, darling?"

"Oh, well... We can do like, Polar Bear? We haven't worked on it for a while..."

"Good! Let's do it then!"

Roger was completely lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice the others were already playing.

"Roger?"

Brian's voice took him to reality.

"Can we start it again?"

He didn't either look at Brian.

"We shouldn't practice like this..."

The 3 of them turned themself towards Brian's direction.

"What?"

"Fred, we all need some days to rest... Well, Roger had enough rest, but we need it... We are tired, aren't we?"

Everyone looked shocked, but, yes, they all agreed with Brian; they needed to rest, band practice had been putting too much stress on them. Freddie sighed.

"That's right... But, we'll have one single week, nothing more, starting from now."

The other 3 nodded. Deaky was the first one to leave, then Freddie; Roger was the last one to leave the room... (Just because he wanted to stalker Brian; he wanted to see him together with Dominique. Kind of nonsense, but, he couldn't just help it) Following Brian from far away, paid off: almost immediately, he saw him and Dominique together. They were still in the school, and, he noticed something weird; Brian brought Dominique in a classroom, and closed the door behind them. It took him something like two minutes to finally reach the room; he placed his ear to the door. He could clearly hear their conversation.

"I think I got what you want to tell me, Brian..."

Dominque's voice was unmistakable.

"I'm so sorry, Dominique... I mean, we can still be friends..."

Roger understood in that second what was going on: Brian was breaking up with her. Suddenly, inside him was growing anger.

"Brian, it's not your fault... I don't want you to hurt yourself..."

"Dominique... Please, I'm not the one who is being hurt at the moment..."

"Stop this..."

She was sobbing.

"It is already hard, don't make it worse, please..."

Roger felt his body completely filled with fury; he had lost his temper.

"Please, Brian, leave me alone here, I'll get back home by myself."

"I promised you we would have gone together..."

"We broke up, and, well, I feel like staying alone."

This is how the conversation ended up. Brian exited the room defeated, but, outside, a red with wrath Roger was waiting for him. The blond guy immediately threw himself against the taller; he grabbed Brian by the collar.

"What the fuck, Brian!"

The other one was speechless.

"Why!" "Why did you leave her!"

"You were eavesdropping!?"

"You hurt her! You hurt my best friend, you idiot!"

"Why you were following us!?"

"You're a jerk, Br...."

And it was in that moment when something weird happened: everything began to float, even Brian and Roger. The two of them, taken by surprise, completely forget about the quarrel.

"What the actual fuck!?"

Roger screamed, panicky.

"We have to be worried right now..."
