The stranger's house was cozy and warm. It was in a tree, as most Earthan's homes were. As soon as she walked in, a fuzzy feeling of reassurance swept through her. I'm going to be alright, she thought.
Now that they weren't in immediate danger, Genevieve took the time to examine her savior. The stranger had tousled mud-brown hair that looked like it never stayed put. His eyes were a vibrant evergreen and his round, pink lips were opened into a charming smile.
While his looks were first rate, his clothes were threadbare. He wore a ratty, thin green shirt that showed his muscles. He also wore canvas pants, soft from years of wear and leather shoes that were as good as rags.
"Jasmine," he called in a deep but melodic voice.
Genevieve didn't understand what he was talking about until a rather good looking girl stepped out from a doorway.
"We have a guest," the man said
"Oh," said the girl, in a friendly voice. "Come in."
Genevieve stepped in the threshold of the door. There were only two doors in the warm-lighted room: the entrance, in which Genevieve was standing in, and the one that "Jasmine" had come through.
"Guests? I didn't know you had any friends!," Jasmine said to the guy teasingly.
"Ha ha," the guy said, sarcastically rolling his eyes.
"Hold on," said Genevieve. "I don't know your names."
"Collin!" exclaimed the girl. "You didn't tell her your name! What bad manners." Then, she said to Genevieve, "I'm Jasmine and this idiot is Collin. Are you lost? You're welcome to stay."
"No, no," said Genevieve. "I don't want to bother, I'm just lost. I need to find my way back home soon or the palace guards will be looking for me."
Collin raised an eyebrow. "Palace guards?"
They took in her silk dress and her perfectly brushed hair. She hadn't meant for "palace guards" to slip out, but it was too late now. "Oops."
"Collin," started Jasmine, still staring intently at her. "I reckon you just found a princess. Don't worry princess," Jasmine said, "We won't hurt you. How did you get here?"
Genevieve sighed, worn out from the long day. "Well, you better tuck in. It's a long story.
