Chapter 19

Genevieve headed out of the dining room, arms filled with platters carrying desserts that she took from dinner. When she reached the room, Lana and Vivien were already there. Genevieve stepped inside, marvelling at the transformation of the room. Usually, the spare room was empty with a bed against the wall.

However, Lana and Vivien had decorated it with blankets and pillows. The bed was now a makeshift fort, covered in blankets. As Genevieve crawled inside their 'fort,' she marveled at the decor inside. There was a crystal lamp, giving off a soft golden glow, in the shape of stars as the lamp rotated. Pillows were stuffed in every corner, with a coffee table in the middle.

"Did you bring the food?" Lana asked, eager.

Genevieve laughed. "Of course I did. I couldn't forget, could I? You would be out for retribution and I don't want to die! I have a life to live!"

Lana giggled.

"You're being melodramatic, Gen," Vivien said, grinning widely.

Genevieve placed the food on the table. There was an assortment of desserts. On first platter, there was a large chocolate lava cake, drizzled with chocolate syrup and caramel syrup. It was topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. On the second one, there were low-fat sugar-free brownies covered in frosting and whipped cream, cake pops, and a chocolate pie. On the third one, there was a large bowl of brownie trifle and chocolate cupcakes with blue and gold frosting. Genevieve then placed a bunch of spoons, forks and knives on the table.

"Did you bring any napkins?" Vivien questioned, eyeing Lana, who already started eating.

Genevieve gasped. "I forgot them!"

Vivien buried her head into her hands. "Seriously? You know how Lana eats when mother and father aren't here, yet you forget the napkins!" She put on a face of mock-disapproval. "I expected better from you!" she reprimanded, mimicking their mother. Genevieve laughed at her sister's imitation. "It's fine. I knew you would forget, so I brought them myself."

"If you guys don't stop talking, all the food is going to be gone." Lana said. She had already eaten two cake pops and a brownie. The chocolate lava cake was partially eaten, along with some brownie trifle.

"Lana, you need to save some for us!" Genevieve chided, while Vivien tried not to laugh at the sight of their little sister's smile, her lips coated in frosting.

"Sorry," Lana said sheepishly, a smile playing her face. She licked her frosting-covered lips "But you guys were taking so long and the food looked soooo good."

Vivien rolled her eyes. She dug into the food, Genevieve following suit.
