Heyy! :) Who's your favorite character? Or a character you dislike?
The next morning, Mason introduced me to Max and his girlfriend, Kaylee. Max was the other guy who met us at the hospital last night and helped Mason take Cole inside. Kaylee says she was also with them at the hospital.
Apparently they were in England and just came back last night. Mason was driving them to the house from the airport when Jason called them and told them what happened. I kind of feel bad because I'm sure they were exhausted after their flight and then had to stay hours at the hospital.
Kaylee is really sweet and cheerful. Max is...the complete opposite. I was a bit scared of him at first until Kaylee told me that he's like a teddy bear when you get to know him. I found that hard to believe.
Now, I'm standing in front of Cole's bedroom door. I want to go in, but I'm nervous. I don't even know why. I've been wanting to see him all morning and the doctor left not too long ago after telling us he's awake and doing okay.
I'm happy to see him, but what if he blames me? Mackenzie blamed me. I mean, my family is targeting Cole and he could've died last night. Does he hate me now? I wouldn't blame him.
"Boo!" I almost screamed and turned around with wide eyes. Janet chuckled and nudged me. "You should see your face right now."
"I really hate you." I said, trying to calm my racing heart, a bit thankful for the distraction from my thoughts though.
"How much longer are you going to stand there and stare at the door?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I was just about to go in." I responded and she scoffed before leaning forward and opening the door. "You didn't even knock-"
"Shut up." And then she pushed me into the room and closed the door.
I felt my heart race again as I looked towards the bed where Cole is lying down, his laptop beside him. An IV pole is beside the bed and I took a step further into the room.
He turned towards me and I stop moving for a second before walking towards the bed.
"Hey." I mumbled, nervously. "How do you feel?" I winced as the words left my mouth. How the hell else would he feel, Ayla?
"I've been better." He replied anyway and I wanted to turn and leave the room. It's awkward.
"I'm glad you're okay, Cole." I spoke softly, looking down at my white socks that have little, red hearts on them instead of looking at him. "I'll leave and let you rest now. I just wanted to say hi."
"Hold on." Cole said just as I turned to leave. "Come here."
I turned back towards him as he shut his laptop. He winced as he tried putting it on the nightstand and I quickly reached forward to help, doing it for him.
"Have you eaten?" He asked and I furrowed my eyebrows. Shouldn't I be asking him? Making sure he's the one that's comfortable after having been shot?
"Not yet." I admitted and he moved to sit up. I went to his side, putting my arm through his as I helped him.
"I'll have Becca bring us some food." Cole said and I bit my lip to keep myself from smiling at the thought of spending more time with him.
I handed Cole his phone when he asked for it and he sent a quick text before putting it down beside him. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow since I'm still standing.
Why can't I stop being awkward? I want to run out of the room.
"Sit down, Ayla." Cole chuckled and I couldn't hold back my smile at the sound.
