(Cassandra pov)
I was laying on my bed with my arms behind my head as I stared at the cracked ceiling, I felt like I was in a prison cell. The walls were white and bare, the cracks in the walls travelled from the ground to the ceiling.
"Oi!" I look at the door and sigh, "get downstairs, it's your turn, loser," she smiles as I got off my bed and walked with Amethyst.
"Okay," she looked at me before sighing as I softly shove her arm.
"Look, we have to get everything done before she comes home, deal?" I nod my head as we travel down the stairs together.
"Ever noticed how similar this place is to a jail?" I asked her while looking around.
"Yeah, I try not to think about it though," she answers and I chuckled.
"Amethyst, they look identical," I told her and she shrugs.
"At least we don't have to bend over butt-naked and cough," she told me and I snorted before we both started laughing.
—
Amethyst and I were on kitchen duty, I was cleaning and she was drying everything after me, "hurry up slow-poke."
"Fuck up," I answered and we snorted, "go clean that side and I'll do this side." I tossed her the cloth and she caught it.
"Good idea."
"Thanks, I'm full of them."
"Nah, full of silence," we both look at each other and she shrugged, "I don't know, shut up."
"Okay...?" I answer her and we kept cleaning.
—
"Get downstairs and line up from age and height, let's go people!" I internally groan as I walked alone to where she asked us to line up.
"Mugshot time," I whispered and Amethyst snorted as I stood in front of her since I was 5'9 and she was 5'6.
"All right, today is adoption day, you all have to act like yourself in your rooms and if they ask you questions, answer them." Mrs Johansson said to us through clenched teeth.
"Can we go?" Someone asks.
"Scram," she told us and we all scattered, "Cassandra," I stopped and looked over my shoulder at her, "they're not looking for someone like you so you can just lock your door and stay quiet."
"Yep." I answer before stalking off.
-
"Hey bitch baby!" I snapped my attention to Bethany and she grins at me, "Having a hard time?" She asks me with a fake pout.
"Totally," I answered as sarcastic as I could, "fuck off Beth, I'm not into kicking your ass today." I told her and she rolled her eyes before walking up to me.
"That's why no one will ever love you," she softly pushed me back and I lick my lips before looking at her directly in the eyes.
"Good." I answered, "I don't trust others, I don't like others, especially fake ones, sound familiar?" I asked her with a small growl.
"You deserved to die in that fire, not your parents," she told me and I felt something fire up inside me.
"Mm... and you wonder why no one really likes you in this prison." I reply back calmly, "No one likes bitches like you."
"Don't start something you can't finish," she told me and I crossed my arms and sigh, "I will get you, I will hurt you and I will destroy you."
"You don't scare me," I answered, "you have never scared me."
