The messages didn't stop—
Ping!
Ping!
Ping!
The words flashing through in a haze—
Talk to me
Why won't you answer?!
Stop this, you know we can work this out!
The empty threats, the crying apologies... it was getting too much for him.
THUD!
The phone hits the wall with a bounce, cracking the screen as it makes impact with the floor—
"ARGH!"
The echoing silence following the heart dropping noise of the phone scraping the tiled ground; the grout crunching the screens shards.
Why didn't she stop?
Just talk to me! We can fix this!
I'm sorry for the things I said about Cassandra!
Tara was lying, she had to of been.
"Shut up."
Slender fingers dragged through the colourful hair, although he didn't feel the colour he once had in his heart.
He was alone.
Jake not only lost his wonderful daughter due to his arrogance as well as ignorance to how she felt, but now his girlfriend.
Everything was a losing battle.
Ping!
Please, Jake.
"I SAID SHUT UP!"
Echoing silence once again.
Jake sat in his room, tears streaming down his face, what can do he now? He's lost the two most important people in his life.
He was alone.
However, Cassandra, had the other end of sadness.
Her and James were out and about, roaming the streets at night after their fun at the Carnival; stomachs full of junk food, evidence of cotton candy sugar stuck to their clothing and fingers; stuffed animal prizes tucked into their sides with carnival bags cutting into their arms from the weight of the candy they bought.
Cassandra didn't have a care in the world, feeling the freedom she had always dreamed of; she was with a boy who truly cared about her in every aspect.
Did the thought of when she was younger cross her mind? Of course it did, the times where her father would take her on fun days out when he wasn't in school or filming. However, she did always feel as though she was an afterthought, it was always content first and her last.
Was it true? She will never know, and if he asked, she would believe the answer would be a lie.
In the present time however, she was happy for the first time in a long while. She had her own apartment, her own priorities, her own everything and was proud.
But what about Jake?
What was Jake doing? What was Jake doing in this very moment? Cassandra's thoughts always whispered this, it echoed in her mind, how was her dad doing? After all, Jake was the one who rescued her that day, well, they all did...
The memory always softened Cassandra's once tense facial expressions, the night she first came home with Jake and the boys...
However, as time went on, like all things, Cassandra was slowly aging, which meant her child-like charm wore off on them all. Cassandra was turning into an adult, it meant that the attention was dying down, how she thought she had more time to feel it just that little bit more until she was ready for the healthier version of independence.
